Trevor LaPaglia Chats On His Hit Web Series ‘The Disappointments’

I loved chatting with Trevor LaPaglia today about his popular web series, “The Disappointments.” Trust and believe, the oh-so-charming Mr. LaPaglia did NOT disappoint. The darkly comic series features gay people in their 50s, who suddenly find themselves standing in a room, looking at their their belongings, their careers, their unhappy personal lives, their reflection in the mirror and asking, ‘How did this get to be my life?’ Disillusioned. Disappointed. And the clock is ticking… Featuring gay men in their 50s dealing with the fallout from faltering careers and empty bank accounts, the show follows along as they figure out how to set themselves up to survive in the decades yet to come.

Trevor LaPaglia plays “Dwight,” the very good looking younger boyfriend of “Ray” played by series writer/director/creator Rich Burns. I interviewed Rich back in November right before the show premiered. “Dwight” is such a breath of fresh air in that he doesn’t over-think life. He’s like a big, furry puppy who isn’t afraid to ask for what he wants. And he’s totally charming in doing so. Check out the full series (for free!) on YouTube here. In addition to LaPaglia, the series features Burns, Gedde Watanabe, and James Campbell. Steve Cubine and Burns share directing duties. The creative team is in the closing days of a crowdfunding campaign to help with shooting Season 2 of the series. Click here if you’d like to help out. The cost of a cup of coffee would be muchly appreciated by the creators. Hit the play button below to watch my Instagram Live chat with Trevor LaPaglia for Instinct Magazine. This was much fun for me.
