Case Rates & Hospitalizations Surge But Vaccinations See Increase

ABC News

reports that Louisiana now has the highest case rate in the country with more than 600 new cases per 100,000 residents, according to federal data. Louisiana is followed by Florida, Arkansas and Mississippi with 500, 400 and 300 new cases per 100,000 residents respectively. https://twitter.com/LouisianaGov/status/1422280349317468162 On Sunday, Florida set a new record for COVID-19 hospitalizations with 10,207 people hospitalized with confirmed COVID-19 cases. The previous high was set on July 23, 2020, when Florida had 10,170 hospitalizations and no vaccines were available. https://twitter.com/DavidBegnaud/status/1421999186741014531 But the good news is vaccinations across the U.S. increased last week. Three million Americans got their first shot in the past seven days according to White House COVID coordinator Jeff Zients. AND – the biggest increases were in states with the highest COVID-19 rates, where vaccination rates have doubled and, in some cases, tripled. “Louisiana has seen a 302% increase in the average number of newly vaccinated per day, Mississippi, 250%, Alabama 215% and Arkansas 206%,” Zients said. https://twitter.com/therecount/status/1422294374621327361
