• Erin in the Morning: Bossier Parish in Louisiana has advanced a criminal trans bathroom ban. Trans people could face up to six months in prison if they use a bathroom on municipal property that differs from their sex assigned at birth.
• Minnesota Public Radio: A woman who called a Black, autistic child the N-word in a playground altercation last year has been found guilty of one count of disorderly conduct. She was ordered to pay a $1,000 fine and complete community service. She launched a crowd-funding campaign and the MAGA cult has gifted her nearly $900,000.

• NBC: The U.S. has logged 2,318 measles cases in the first 7 months of this year. It’s the largest number of measles cases the U.S. has seen in 35 years. The majority of infected people — 93%, according to the CDC — are unvaccinated.
• New York Times: Federal officials acknowledged in court documents that they canceled more than $7.5 billion in federal grants for clean energy projects to states that didn’t vote for Donald Trump in 2024.

• Axios: South Carolina has been tapped to hold the first Democratic presidential primary of 2028, as a key panel of party leaders picked the Palmetto State over Nevada and New Hampshire on Friday.
