Some news items for you as we head into the week:
• Gayety: The mega-hit ice hockey series Heated Rivalry won 16 awards – every category it was nominated in – at the 2026 Canadian Screen Awards.
• HBO Max: I highly recommend the beautifully acted Miss You, Love You starring Oscar winner Allison Janney and Tony nominee Andrew Rannells. The darkly comedic movie follows a grieving widow who is forced to plan her husband’s funeral alongside her estranged son’s personal assistant.
• LGBTQ Nation: South Carolina state Rep. RJ May (R) — an anti-LGBTQ+ politician who has accused drag queens and transgender people of harming kids — was sentenced to 17.5 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to five counts of distributing child sex abuse material.
• JoeMyGod: In various attempts to troll Pride Month, several red state governors (Utah, Indiana, Arkansas, Tennessee, Alabama) are issuing proclamations recognizing June as “Nuclear Family Month” or “Fidelity Month” or similar variations.

• Queerty: Target’s 2026 Pride Month collection is, as expected, a rainbow flop.
• New York Times: Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth blocked the promotions of nine Navy officers who had been selected by a board of senior Navy admirals in May. No female officers were included on the new one-star list of 22 nominees, and only two nonwhite officers made the cut.
