• The Advocate: There were 1,042 anti-LGBTQ+ incidents across the U.S. in 2025, according to a report from GLAAD, marking a 5% increase from the 984 incidents in 2024. These included 128 acts of vandalism, 76 assaults, 22 threats of mass violence, and 15 arson attempts.

• Erin in the Morning: An anti-transgender bill now racing through the Kansas state legislature would not only authorize criminal charges against trans people who violate a proposed bathroom ban, but allow bounty hunters to patrol bathrooms.
• LGBTQ Nation: An appeals court refused to allow the arrest of journalist Don Lemon for reporting on a protest in a Minneapolis church.
The out journalist broadcast a protest that took place in a church, which the administration said was an attack on “Christian worshippers.”

• AP News: Amazon will lay off 16,000 workers, the company announced Wednesday. The news comes in addition to the 14,000 layoffs announced in October. The tech giant has said it plans to use generative AI to replace corporate workers.
• Gallup: A record-high 45% of U.S. adults identified as political independents in 2025. Meanwhile, equal shares of U.S. adults — 27% each — identified as either Democrats or Republicans. When asked if they leaned one way or the other, 20% said they were Democratic leaners and 15% Republican leaners.
