Some news items you might have missed: • Variety: Mega-hit movie musical WICKED (10 Academy Award nominations and $727 million at the worldwide box office) will begin streaming March 21 on Peacock. The movie’s singalong version will also be available to stream on the same day along with a collection of bonus content. • Gay Times: Authorities say they don’t see evidence of a hate crime in the murder of trans man Sam Nordquist noting, “Sam and his assailants were known to each other, identified as LGBTQ+, and at least one of the defendants lived with Sam in the time period leading up to the instant offense.”
• Washington Blade: A federal judge appears poised to strike down a policy from the Defense Department that would bar transgender service members from the military. Judge Ana Reyes said the “greatest fighting force that world history has ever seen” would not be impacted “in any way by less than one percent of the soldiers using a different pronoun than others might want to call them.” • Kenneth-in-the-212: Kenneth reports on all the tennis news from this weekend plus all the ATP beef that’s fit to print.

• NBC4: Westerville has become the 13th city in Ohio to ban anti-LGBTQ+ practices known as “conversion therapy” that falsely claim to change a person’s sexual orientation or gender identity. Currently, 27 states have statewide bans on the harmful practice. • Gallup: New polling shows a majority (58%) of Americans support transgender people serving in the military. But the number has declined since 2021 (66%) thanks to a 20-point drop among Republicans. Dem support remains about the same.
