Drag Star The Vivienne Passes Away At 32

The Vivienne, winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK and the first drag performer to compete on Dancing on Ice,  has died at the age of 32. No cause of death has been disclosed. The sad news was shared in a statement posted on social media by the drag star’s publicist Simon Jones on Sunday, January 5.

The announcement reads:

“It is with immense sadness that we let you know our beloved James Lee Williams – The Vivienne, has passed this weekend.

“James was an incredibly loved, warm-hearted, and amazing person. Their family are heartbroken at the loss of their son, brother, and uncle. They are so proud of the wonderful things James achieved in their life and career.”

“We will not be releasing any further details.”

“We please ask that James’ family are given the time and privacy they now need to process and grieve.”

She also appeared in the UK medical drama This is Going to Hurt and she was the first drag performer to compete on Dancing on Ice in 2023. She also competed on the all-winners season of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 7 alongside drag icons Monét X Change, Shea Couleé, and Jinkx Monsoon.
