Check out the trailer for the upcoming film Close To You, starring Academy Award nominee Elliot Page as a transgender man returning home for the first time since their transition. Written and directed by Dominic Savage (Page shares a story credit), the film is about love, family and identity that looks at the challenges of returning home when you have changed and feel like an outsider. Via press release:
Sam (Elliot Page) hasn’t been home since his transition. After four years in Toronto, he takes a long-dreaded trip back to his hometown for his father’s birthday. Once there, he confronts unresolved wounds and reconnects with an old flame.
The Daily Beast praised the film writing, “Page delivers the best performance of his already impressive career.”
And Screen International declared Page delivers “a soul-baring performance.”
In theaters nationwide on August 16.
