Christian Ziegler, Florida’s GOP chairman, is under criminal investigation after a woman filed a complaint with the Sarasota Police Department alleging the longtime Republican official had raped her. Ziegler is married to Bridget Ziegler, a Sarasota County School Board member and co-founder of the virulently anti-LGBTQ group, Moms of Liberty. The accuser says she and both Zieglers had been involved in a consensual three-way sexual relationship before the alleged assault. Ziegler’s lawyer, Derek Byrd, confirmed to NBC News he is under investigation saying he expects his client to be fully exonerated. https://twitter.com/randyslovacek/status/1730358762098344239 From the Florida Center for Government Accountability (FCGA):
The complaint was filed on October 4 and the alleged sexual battery occurred inside the woman’s home in Sarasota on October 2, according to the report. Among the few words that went unredacted in the report are “rape” and “sexual assault complaint.”
The incident under investigation by Sarasota police occurred when Christian Ziegler and the woman were alone at the woman’s house, without Bridget Ziegler present, the sources conveyed.
Christian Ziegler is also alleged to have secretly videotaped the sexual encounters between the couple and the woman, sources said.
From the VERY redacted police report:
According to FCGA, investigators have also executed a search warrant on Christian Ziegler’s cell phone and are conducting a forensic examination of the electronic device. https://twitter.com/NoLieWithBTC/status/1730314664536354981 https://twitter.com/FlaDems/status/1730304105925509139 https://twitter.com/RonFilipkowski/status/1730298184541388989
