“Don’t Say Gay” Author Gets 4 Months In Prison For COVID Fraud

Joseph Harding, a former Florida state lawmaker, was sentenced to 4 months in prison for fraudulently collecting about $150,000 in COVID-19 relief funds intended to help small businesses. Harding is a virulent homophobe who authored Florida’s hideous anti-LGBTQ “Don’t Say Gay” law. From Click Orlando:

Harding pleaded guilty in March to wire fraud, which carries a maximum 20-year prison sentence. He also pleaded guilty to money laundering and making false statements.

The former state representative admitted he created bank accounts for two dormant businesses and used them to fraudulently apply for pandemic relief loans from the Small Business Administration.

Harding reportedly faced over 35 years in prison but got 4 months. Is this where I mention the judge was a Trump appointee? Following his time in prison, Harding will serve two years of supervised release. Harding’s brother-in-law, Patrick Walsh, was sentenced in January to more than five years in prison for similar crimes. https://twitter.com/DeForestNews6/status/1715105968453722463
