Some news items I thought worth your time:
• The Advocate: Andre Karlow (above) has been sentenced to seven years in prison for assaulting a transgender woman. She suffered broken teeth, facial injuries, and a brain bleed before escaping into a nearby restaurant for help.
During his trial, prosecutors quoted a recorded call Karlow made from jail – “If I didn’t hate trans people before, I do now, absolutely. I think that Trump should kill them all. Get them out of here. They’re weird.”
• Them: Thirty-nine percent of U.S. adults still believe homosexuality is “morally unacceptable,” according to a new report from the Pew Research Center. That placed the U.S. ninth among all countries surveyed by rate of anti-gay sentiment, between Israel (47%) and Hungary (34%).

• WPTV: Andy Thomson was declared the new mayor of Boca Raton, Florida, by a razor-thin five vote margin following a recount of Tuesday’s elections in Palm Beach County. Thomson is the first Democrat to be elected mayor in the city in 30+ years. If you ever wondered if your vote counts…
• Law & Crime: A Trump-appointed federal judge in Washington, D.C., has rejected a January 6 rioter’s claim of excessive force by two members of law enforcement. “White was far from an ‘unthreatening protester,’ she was an active participant in an unprecedented riot at the Capitol,” declared the judge in their ruling.
• Queerty: 80s pop star Thomas Dolby (“She Blinded Me With Science”) on parenting his queer children – “. I have three kids. The eldest is trans, the middle one is a lesbian, and the youngest is a drummer.” His eldest child, now 35-years-old, transitioned when they were in their teens.
