The Labor Department reports 303,000 new jobs were added to the U.S. economy last month – a much larger gain than experts had forecast. The unemployment rate fell from 3.9% to 3.8%, and the country experienced its 39th straight month of job growth. https://twitter.com/nytimes/status/1776243164266868966 From the New York Times:
The continuing strength, labor market analysts say, may increase confidence among investors and the Federal Reserve that the U.S. economy has reached a healthy equilibrium in which a steady roll of commercial activity, growing employment and rising wages coexist.
It’s a remarkable change from a year ago, when top financial analysts were largely convinced that a recession was only months away.
Average hourly earnings for workers rose 0.3 percent in March from the previous month.
Over the past 12 months, average hourly earnings have increased by 4.1%, while inflation over the 12 months ending in February was 3.2%. The bulk of job gains occurred in health care, government, and construction. Revisions to employment data for January and February showed a total uptick of 22,000 jobs. https://twitter.com/BadFoxGraphics/status/1776232574790115468 https://twitter.com/HuffmanForNC/status/1776228911489151270 https://twitter.com/SteveRattner/status/1776226729939411370 https://twitter.com/kramos1841/status/1776260964393910493
