From the Washington Post:
Local prosecutors say a group of 10 to 15 people waited for Sebastian Thomas Robles Lascarro to exit the McDonalds just after 1 a.m. and began to hit and kick him because, they alleged, the 22-year-old model had not said “excuse me” to anyone in the group as he entered the fast-food restaurant.
No immediate arrests were made in the case, which D.C. police said at the time they were investigating as a hate crime because several of the attackers had used homophobic slurs against Lascarro.
Prosecutors said that a week after the assault one youth, accompanied by his mother, met with police and admitted to being a part of the attack.
The boy told the police said he was drunk at the time and did not remember much of the incident. He was arrested and charged. Read more at the Washington Post. The teen was clearly identifiable in two surveillance videos because he was wielding a tiki-torch-like pole striking Lascarro on the head with it.
