Some news items you might have missed: • World Theatre Day: Today is World Theatre Day, a celebration for those who see the value and importance of the art form “theatre.” As longtime TRR readers know, the theatre changed my life at an early age and became my vocation (me in A Chorus Line above) and safe space for most of my life. Cheers to WTD! • Into: Nicholas Galitzine (Red, White & Royal Blue; Mary & George) says he “feels so lucky” to keep playing gay roles. https://twitter.com/Into_tweets/status/1773032263648719004 • The Advocate: The long-awaited report about the death of trans Oklahoma teen Nex Benedict was released Wednesday, providing insight into the physical injuries Benedict sustained and the levels of medication present in their system at the time of death. • OUT: Colton Underwood, former star of The Bachelor, who came out as gay in an interview on Good Morning America in 2021: “Coming out journeys aren’t always clean & pretty.” https://twitter.com/outmagazine/status/1772353072271880491 • Washington Post: Former four-term Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman, who was the Democratic nominee for vice president in 2000, becoming the first Jewish candidate on the national ticket of a major party, died today due to complications from a fall. He was 82. • Facebook: I won’t reveal the Facebook user’s name who posted this, but I was duly horrified to see such hideous regard for a homeless person posted on social media. The good news is the number of people who took the poster to task and encouraged them to rethink their humanity.
