Ukraine President To Meet With Trump This Weekend

Ukrainian officials say President Volodymr Zelenskyy will meet with Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago on Sunday to try and reach agreement on the U.S. proposed peace plan to bring an end to the war brought by Russia.

Insiders believe significant progress on a deal appears to have been made as Trump previously declared that he’d only meet Zelensky if he felt an agreement was close.

Zelensky confirmed he would meet Trump on Sunday. He said Trump’s plan was “90%” agreed but he could not say whether they would sign any agreements.

Most elements of the deal have been agreed between the U.S. and Ukraine, officials from both countries say, including the security guarantees Kyiv would receive from the U.S. and Europe.

The main sticking point is Russia’s demand that it control the entirety of the Donbas region under any deal.
