Donald Trump says his administration has been negotiating with Iran “for a long time” and said he believes a deal is close. He did not make clear who was involved in negotiations with Iran.
COLLINS: You said there’s many points of agreement with Iran. Can you give us a few?
TRUMP: Like 15 points
COLLINS: That Iran has said yes to?
TRUMP: They’re not gonna have a nuclear weapon. That’s number 1, 2, and 3

On Sunday, Trump had threatened to “obliterate” Iran’s power plants within 48 hours if the Strait of Hormuz wasn’t opened. But now he’s extended his deadline for five days.

But multiple Iranian officials, including Iran’s Parliament Speaker, insist there have been no negotiations with the United States.
From AP News:
“They want peace,” Trump said. “They’ve agreed they will not have a nuclear weapon, you know, et cetera, et cetera, but we’ll see.”
In his remarks, Trump said there’s a “very good chance” a deal will be reached this week. He credited his threat to blow up Iranian power plants.
The president said he ordered a pause on strikes for five days to work on a deal, “and then we’re going to see where that takes us.”
The spokesman of Iran’s Foreign Ministry reiterated that there have been no talks with the U.S., according to the state-run IRNA news agency.
“Iran’s position on the Strait of Hormuz and the prerequisites for ending the war remains exactly as before,” IRNA quoted Esmail Baghaei as saying.

Q: Iran’s foreign ministry says you’re not telling the truth when it comes to productive conversations to end the war

“Iran called Trump’s bluff…How thin did his bluff turn out to be? He didn’t wait until his 48-hour deadline was expiring. He blinked with 12 hours to spare—ensuring the entire threat period took place while markets were closed over the weekend.”https://t.co/HUzZTBfhFS
