In a social media post, Donald Trump admits that he’s seen information from Pfizer and other COVID vaccine companies that is “extraordinary” — “GREAT numbers and results” — but asks why that info hasn’t been shared with the public or the CDC.
Ummm, it is available to the public… here’s just one set of data right on the CDC website.
“For hospitalization due to COVID-19, 31 events occurred, all in the placebo group. Vaccine efficacy against hospitalization due to COVID-19 was 100%.”
All of the trial study data was/has been provided to the FDA, which is how they were approved for authorization at the time.
The vaccines were initially given “emergency use” approval by the FDA, and then in August 2021 given “full approval” based on the even more data.
Trump goes on to demand the “GREAT numbers and results” be shown to the public now to “clear up this MESS.”
It’s worth noting that research available in October 2022 showed “Republicans in Florida and Ohio died at a higher rate than Democrats when accounting for the additional deaths that occurred during the coronavirus pandemic and after COVID-19 vaccines became widely available.”
That would seem to be a pretty clear indication of vaccine hesitancy on the part of Republicans, who clearly don’t WANT to believe in the science.
Timing, timing, timing – just yesterday Trump advisor Steven Bannon told the Washington Post that Trump should use his Truth Social media platform to prop up Health and Human Services Sec. Kennedy’s stance on COVID vaccines.
“My concern is that next week could turn into the ‘Save Bobby Kennedy’ campaign, when we should be talking about making more changes to the CDC, when we should be releasing the data on mRNA vaccines,” Bannon said.
Trump’s post is clearly meant to defend Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who abruptly fired CDC director Dr. Susan Monarez last week for clashing with his unscientific approach to the vaccines.
Others high-ranking officials at the CDC resigned in protest, and today, nine former CDC directors joined penned a New York Times op-ed [gift link here] warning that Kennedy is “endangering every American’s health” with his anti-vaccine stance.
