Donald Trump posted (then deleted) an AI-generated image from his Truth Social account this morning that depicted him as Jesus Christ healing a sick man following massive backlash from politicians, pundits, and Catholics.

The Donald posted the image late Sunday night on Truth Social after blasting Pope Leo XIV in a tirade as “weak” for opposing the Iran war.
From Mediaite:
The president said Pope Leo had “terrible” thoughts on foreign policy and was “WEAK” on both crime and nuclear weapons. He also took credit for the Chicago-born pope becoming the first American pontiff last year.
“I don’t want a Pope who criticizes the President of the United States because I’m doing exactly what I was elected, IN A LANDSLIDE, to do, setting Record Low Numbers in Crime, and creating the Greatest Stock Market in History,” the president said.
Trump followed that up by telling reporters on Sunday night he was “not a big fan” of the pope.
“He’s a very liberal person, and he’s a man that doesn’t believe in stopping crime,” Trump said in front of Air Force One.
Pope Leo XIV responded to Trump’s rant on Monday telling reporters he has “no fear” of the White House.
“I have no fear of the Trump administration, nor speaking out loudly about the message of the Gospel,” the pontiff said on Monday. “That’s what I believe in. I am called to do what the church is called to do.”
Asked by reporters about the post, Trump admitted he’d shared the image claiming “it was me as a doctor and had to do with the Red Cross.”
Umm, I’ve never seen a doctor in flowing red robes with glowing hands…
President Trump claims the viral image that was posted on Truth was not a depiction of him as Jesus Christ but was him being depicted as a doctor.
Reporter: Did you post that picture of yourself depicted as Jesus Christ?
Trump: I did post it, and I thought it was me as a doctor… pic.twitter.com/4pfSRFPdrp
