Trump Catches Bipartisan Pushback On Iran Strikes

While the majority of Republicans in Congress (and some pro-Israel Democrats) support Donald Trump’s bombing of Iran’s nuclear facilities, there is bipartisan opposition to Trump’s decision to strike Iran.

Via Axios:

The objections center on the argument that Trump needed congressional authorization for such a provocative use of military force, with one House Democrat pushing for a vote to restrict further unilateral action.

“We need to immediately return to DC and vote on [Rep. Thomas Massie’s] and my War Powers Resolution to prevent America from being dragged into another endless Middle East war,” said Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.).

Massie (R-Ky.), a libertarian who often breaks with Trump, said in a post on X reacting to the strikes: “This is not Constitutional.”

NBC News’ “Meet the Press,” moderator Kristen Welker asked Vice President JD Vance if the U.S. was now at war with Iran after Donald Trump dropped bombs on three Iranian nuclear sites on Saturday.

“We’re not at war with Iran,” Vance said. “We’re at war with Iran’s nuclear program.”

Vance declined to confirm that Iran’s nuclear sites were completely destroyed, saying instead that he believes the U.S. has “substantially delayed” Iran’s ability to develop a nuclear weapon.
