Town Defunds After-School LGBTQ Pizza Program + More News

Some news items you might have missed: • The Advocate: A small-town city council in Washington state voted to defund an after-school program that provided safe space and pizza for LGBTQ+ youth after concerns that it could “influence” students to become queer or trans. LGBTQ Nation: Teen gangs in New South Wales, Australia, are using gay dating apps like Grindr to meet up with gay men  in order to taunt, assault, and then force the gay men to confess to pedophilia on video in what’s being called a “pedo hunting” TikTok trend.

Police are trying to crack down on several gangs responsible for the social media trend.

Axios: FBI Director Chris Wray, who was appointed by Donald Trump, announced he plans to resign at the end of President Biden’s term. Economic experts say  this report should give the Federal Reserve enough confidence to cut interest rates at their meeting on the 18th. • EXTRA: Michael Cole, the last surviving main cast member from TV’s “The Mod Squad,” died Tuesday at 84. Folks of a certain age will remember the series was a sensation when it debuted in 1968. A response to counterculture unrest that featured three young people (with co-stars Peggy Lipton and Clarence Williams III) as unconventional detectives.
