Today, the nation celebrates the birth of Martin Luther King Jr. and his legacy as a visionary for civil rights.
“Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.”
“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”
“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”
“I look to a day when people will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.”
“We must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite hope.”
Like many Americans, I think it’s important to slow down and revisit Dr. King’s celebrated speech, delivered on August 28, 1963, on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial.
