FDA Approves Updated COVID Vaccines To Target Omicron Variant

The FDA has approved new updated versions of the Pfizer and Moderna COVID vaccines which also target the new BA.5 variant The Food and Drug Administration has authorized the first updated COVID vaccines since the initial December 2020 rollout. Millions of Americans will soon be able to receive new booster shots that target not only the original virus but the BA.5 Omicron subvariant as well. The updated COVID vaccines – known as ‘bivalent boosters’ since they address multiple variants – could be made available as soon as next week.
