Nashville Rep. Justin Jones has been reinstated to his seat in the Tennessee House of Representatives by Metro Nashville’s Council via a unanimous vote.

The vote occurred just four days after he was expelled by Republican state leaders in the House for leading chants for gun reform with a bullhorn on the chamber floor. Thousands of drag queens and their allies took to the streets this weekend in marches in San Francisco and West Hollywood to protest the many anti-LGBTQ+ bills being filed in states across the country, including Tennessee’s ban on public drag performance.

Tennessee lawmakers have introduced their own "Don't Say Gay" legislation which would prohibit discussion of LGBTQ topics on any level in schools. Some news stories you might have missed: • New York Times: The Tennessee House, where Republicans have a super-majority, voted to expel two Democrats from the state legislature a week after they joined protesters in a call for stricter gun laws in the wake of a shooting that left six dead at a Christian school.
