Lady Gaga’s National Anthem At Super Bowl 50

Certainly a fantastic performance by Lady Gaga of our national anthem at Super Bowl 50.

Of course, the comparisons are now being made to Whitney Houston’s once in a lifetime performance 25 years ago. Kids, we don’t have to compare everyone and everything. Sometimes, we can just enjoy 🙂

Having made her mark initially with wild costumes, it’s great to see her show off her serious vocal chops every now and then.

By the way, it’s a little known fact that the first artist to ever perform at a Super Bowl was my dear Carol Channing, back at Super Bowl IV.

Lady Gaga Booked To Sing National Anthem At Super Bowl

Wow – the little monsters will lose their minds.

Billboard is reporting that Lady Gaga will sing the National Anthem at the Super Bowl this weekend when the Carolina Panthers face off against the Denver Broncos at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

Just another big moment for Gaga this month as it was previously announced she will perform a David Bowie tribute at the Grammys, and she’s nominated for an Academy Award for her song “Til It Happens To You” for the film, The Hunting Ground.

Super Bowl Ad: Heinz Ketchup “Wiener Stampede”

Via Zap2It:

For Super Bowl 50, the people at Heinz have stepped up their advertising game with a fun new campaign titled, “Meet the Ketchups.”

What better way to get the public’s attention than to let loose a pack of energetic puppies racing down a lush green hill?

The visuals of the dogs running in slow motion is enough to incite a plethora of giggles but when they are united with the various Ketchups, the cuteness reaches an “aww”-inducing crescendo. Harry Nilsson’s “Without You” adds just the right touch as it plays over the footage.

Coldplay Set For 2016 Super Bowl Halftime Show

My favorite band, Coldplay, is set to headline the 2016 Super Bowl halftime show on CBS.

Previous halftime performers of the football extravaganza include Bruno Mars, Katy Perry and Beyonce.

It’s the biggest stage for not only musicians but for TV, period. Last year’s Super Bowl match-up between the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks on NBC set a U.S. television record with 114.4 million viewers.

CBS will follow the NFL championship with late-show specials from Stephen Colbert and James Corden.

The 2016 Super Bowl, hosted by Levi Stadium in San Francisco, is set for Feb. 7.

Regular readers know I have a ‘thing’ for band member/drummer Will Champion 🙂

The band’s new CD – A Head Full Of Dreams – drops tomorrow.
