FOX News psychologist fired for inflammatory comments on Santa Barbara shooter

FOX News contributor Dr. Robi Ludwig, who made headlines over the weekend for hypothesizing that Santa Barbara shooter Eliot Rodger went on his rampage because he couldn’t deal with his “homosexual impulses” has been sacked as a spokesperson for Coldwell Banker Real Estate, according to a note left by the company on Facebook after an inquiry from activist Scott Wooledge.

Coldwell Banker posted this statement: “Dr. Robi’s comments on the tragedy in Santa Barbara do not represent the opinions of Coldwell Banker. Therefore at this time we feel it best to part ways with her as our lifestyle real estate correspondent.”

Ludwig issued an apology on Facebook (not on the air where she initially shared her thoughts) after her comments went viral saying:

“I was misunderstood on @FoxNews this weekend, when I was asked to hypothesize several factors which could have triggered ‪#‎ElliotRoger‬’s spree killing.”

“I in NO way meant to indicate being a homosexual or having homosexual impulses is a cause for spree killing. My job on @judgejeanine was to asses several possible triggers for #ElliotRoger and his behavior ‪#‎peace‬ ‪#‎forequalrights‬ However, I apologize to all those who felt offended. That was never my intention.”

Fox News Psychotherapist: Santa Barbara shooting may have been triggered by “homosexual impulses”

I was wondering how long it would take Fox News to find a way to blame the gays for the tragic shooting in Santa Barbara Friday.

In a Fox News discussion on the shooting, television psychotherapist Dr. Robi Ludwig hypothesized that 22 year old Elliot Rodger’s shooting rampage, which ended with six dead victims, might have been triggered as an inability to cope with his “homosexual impulses.”

“When I was first listening to him, I was like, ‘Oh, he’s angry with women for rejecting him. And then I started to have a different idea: Is this somebody who is trying to fight against his homosexual impulses? Was he angry with women because they were taking away men from him? But this is a kid who couldn’t connect, and felt enraged, and wanted to obliterate anyone that made him feel like a nothing.”

As the world knows from seeing Rodger’s chilling video on YouTube, his issues were with his inability to interest women in dating. Nothing has come to light that would tie Rodger to homosexuality.

But you know Fox News – gotta blame it on the gays somehow.

Fort Hood on lock down after shooting

From Yahoo News: Fort Hood was placed on lockdown Wednesday after a shooting on the Texas military base, officials said.

According to the U.S. Justice Department, the gunman died of self-inflicted wound.

According to KCEN-TV, at least 8 people were injured, four of them critically, in the shooting. The wounded were transported to Carl R. Darnall Medical Center and other local hospitals, Fort Hood officials said.

A spokesman for Fort Hood confirmed to Yahoo News that a shooting took place, but additional details were not immediately available.

Emergency crews, FBI and SWAT teams were called in to the base following the shooting, which occured at approximately 4:30 p.m. local time at a medical building on the sprawling base. Soldiers and area residents were ordered to shelter in place.

Earlier Wednesday, CNN reported that police were initially pursuing a possible second “active” shooter.

President Barack Obama was informed of the reports of the shooting, the White House said.

“The President has been informed of reports of a shooting at Fort Hood. He’ll continue to receive updates on the situation throughout the evening,” principal deputy press secretary Josh Earnest said.

CO: Twelve dead at movie theater shooting in Aurora

Twelve people are dead (earlier reports had the number at 14) and 50 injured after a gunman opened fire at a screening of The Dark Knight Rises in Aurora, Colorado late last night.

The AP reports:
The gunman, who is in custody, stood at the front of the theater and fired into the crowd about 12:30 a.m. MDT at a theater at a multiplex theater in a mall in Aurora. Witnesses tell us he released some sort of canister. They heard a hissing sound and some gas emerged and the gunman opened fire,” Aurora Police Chief Dan Oates said at a news conference. Police, ambulances and emergency crews swarmed on the scene after frantic calls started flooding the 911 switchboard, officials said. Officers found the gunman near a car behind the theater. “A gas mask, rifle, handgun at least one additional weapon (were) found inside,” he said.
The suspect arrested is a 24-year-old male. He has been identified as James Holmes.

A somber President Obama addressed the crowd awaiting his Florida campaign stop, telling them that the event was canceled and instead the nation should spend the day in prayer and reflection.

Michelle and I are shocked and saddened by the horrific and tragic shooting in Colorado. Federal and local law enforcement are still responding, and my Administration will do everything that we can to support the people of Aurora in this extraordinarily difficult time. We are committed to bringing whoever was responsible to justice, ensuring the safety of our people, and caring for those who have been wounded. As we do when confronted by moments of darkness and challenge, we must now come together as one American family. All of us must have the people of Aurora in our thoughts and prayers as they confront the loss of family, friends, and neighbors, and we must stand together with them in the challenging hours and days to come.
