Sarah Palin’s Clarion Call For Constitutional Convention

On her Facebook page, constitutional scholar (and former half-term governor of Alaska) Sarah Palin has issued a clarion call for a Constitutional Convention so “gosh-darn-average Joes” and soccer moms can get together and make new laws to stop the “Government Gone Wild.”

“By calling a Convention of the States, average citizens can stop the federal spending spree, power grabs, and other abuses by proposing amendments to rein in the federal government. After the states draft, debate, and vote upon these proposed amendments, they will then be sent to all 50 states for ratification, and three-quarters of the states must agree for any of the proposed amendments to be ratified.

Of course, Ms. Palin’s followers are now drunk with excitement over the possibilities, liking the post over 100,000 times.

Not surprisingly, the push for said constitutional convention is being led by a group out of Texas called Citizens For Self-Governance. However, it should surprise no one that the headline on that group’s official website today is about “religious freedom,” not government spending. You see where this is going, right?

Also, while the nation certainly can call a constitutional convention, the first and only such event has happened once – back in 1787,

Quote Of The Day: Jonathan Capehart On Mitt Romney Not Running In 2016

“Mitt Romney, the former Massachusetts governor and 2012 Republican presidential nominee, made the right decision to not seek his party’s nomination for a third run.

“By bowing out today, Romney becomes a statesman of his party rather than a punch line for comedians. Besides, Sarah Palin has the latter role on lockdown.” – Jonathan Capehart writing for the Washington Post

Jon Stewart Takes On GOP Clown Car Freedom Summit

Jon Stewart took time to skewer the recent Freedom Summit in Iowa this past weekend featuring Mike Huckabee, Rick Perry, Scott Walker, Ted Cruz, Donald Trump and, of course, the “gift that keeps giving/language impaired” Sarah Palin:

“Sarah Palin doesn’t believe in your liberal, elitest grammar and syntax. She be bold.”

Fallout Continues For Sarah Palin After Freedom Summit Speech

Fallout continues after former half-term governor Sarah Palin’s rambling and disjointed speech this past weekend at the Freedom Summit in Iowa.

Via Raw Story:

Sam Clovis, a conservative Iowa college professor and radio commentator who recently lost a primary campaign to Palin-endorsed, now-Senator Joni Ernst, claimed it is now hard to take Palin seriously.

“I know she is popular, but it is hard to take her seriously given that performance,” Clovis said. “Palin was a sad story Saturday. With every speech she gives, she gets worse and worse. If one were playing a political cliche drinking game, no one would have been sober after the first 15 minutes of an interminable ramble. It was really painful.”

Another attendee, described by York as “a well-connected Iowa Republican” was less impressed, saying Palin has reached the end of “shelf-life.”

“Calling Gov. Palin’s remarks bizarre and disjointed would be charitable,” he said. “Her shelf-life, even with the most conservative voters in our party, seems to be near the end. In a day filled with strong performances from likely candidates ranging from Scott Walker to Ted Cruz, her remarks were a distraction.”

Writing on the Iowa Republican blog, Craig Robinson said he had a hard time finding anyone who reacted positively to Palin’s speech.

Sarah Palin: “I Am Seriously Interested” In 2016 Presidential Run

Sarah Palin, the former half-term governor of Alaska, doubled down on recent comments hinting she’s “seriously” considering a run for the GOP presidential nomination in 2016.

“You can absolutely say that I am seriously interested,” Palin said, when asked to clarify her thinking about a possible presidential bid.

Palin, the GOP’s 2008 vice-presidential nominee, said she stood by comments she made Thursday in Las Vegas to ABC News, where she first expressed enthusiasm about potentially competing for the Republican presidential nomination.

“I am. As I said yesterday, I’m really interested in the opportunity to serve at some point,” Palin said Friday, as former Pennsylvania senator Rick Santorum, a potential 2016 rival, looked on.

Palin’s comments, made in an interview in the lobby of the Marriott hotel here, came hours before she is scheduled to address a group of conservative activists at the Iowa Freedom Summit, a gathering hosted by Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa), an immigration hard-liner.

Palin said, “It is a significant step, of course, for anyone to publicly announce that they’re interested. Who wouldn’t be interested? Who wouldn’t be interested when they have been blessed with opportunities to speak about what is important to this country and for this country?”

Check out Sarah’s incredibly incoherent, rambling word salad of a speech yesterday at Steve King’s jamboree. She’s just the gift that keeps giving.

Run, Sarah, run!

PETA Slaps Back At Sarah Palin Over Dog Photo

So, earlier this week Sarah Palin, former-half term governor of Alaska, posted the above photo of her child Trig, praising his ability to problem-solve and overcome roadblocks – i.e. reach the kitchen sink by standing on the family dog.

May 2015 see every stumbling block turned into a stepping stone on the path forward. Trig just reminded me. He, determined to help wash dishes with an oblivious mama not acknowledging his signs for “up!”, found me and a lazy dog blocking his way. He made his stepping stone.

I think the message of the picture seems to be to step on anyone who gets in your way. Rather accurate coming from the Palin camp.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) issued a statement criticizing the treatment of the dog in this manner:

It’s odd that anyone—let alone a mother—would find it appropriate to post such a thing, with no apparent sympathy for the dog in the photo. Then again, PETA, along with everyone else, is used to the hard-hearted, seeming obliviousness of this bizarrely callous woman, who actually thought it appropriate to be filmed while turkeys were being slaughtered right behind her in full view of the camera.

Palin, always one to try and have the last (if inarticulate word) came back with this snarky comment to PETA:

Did you go as crazy when your heroic Man-of-Your-Lifetime, Barack Obama, revealed he actually enjoyed eating dead dog meat?

Aren’t you the double-standard radicals always opposing Alaska’s Iditarod – the Last Great Race honoring dogs who are born to run in wide open spaces, while some of your pets “thrive” in a concrete jungle where they’re allowed outdoors to breathe and pee maybe once a day? (http://iditarod.com/ http://www.irondog.org/)

Aren’t you the same herd that opposes our commercial fishing jobs, claiming I encourage slaying and consuming wild, organic healthy protein sources called “fish”? (I do.)

Aren’t you the same anti-beef screamers blogging hate from your comfy leather office chairs, wrapped in your fashionable leather belts above your kickin’ new leather pumps you bought because your celebrity idols (who sport fur and crocodile purses) grinned in a tabloid wearing the exact same Louboutins exiting sleek cowhide covered limo seats on their way to some liberal fundraiser shindig at some sushi bar that features poor dead smelly roe (that I used to strip from our Bristol Bay-caught fish, and in a Dillingham cannery I packed those castoff fish eggs for you while laughing with co-workers about the suckers paying absurdly high prices to party with the throw away parts of our wild seafood)? I believe you call those discarded funky eggs “caviar”.

Yeah, you’re real credible on this, PETA. A shame, because I’ll bet we agree on what I hope is the true meaning of your mission – respecting God’s creation and critters.

Isn’t that homey? She used the word “critters.”

And by the way, Obama never said he “enjoyed” eating dog. In his autobiography ‘Dreams from my Father,’ Obama wrote that he was “introduced to dog meat” while living in Indonesia as a child. While he wrote that he remembered the meat as “tough,” he never says he enjoyed the experience. Gee, Palin getting something else wrong. I guess she still doesn’t read much.

And so, PETA takes that snark and ups Ms. Palin with this sassy reply:

PETA simply believes that people shouldn’t step on dogs, and judging by the reaction that we’ve seen to Sarah Palin’s Instagram photo, we’re far from alone in that belief. Palin’s Facebook response shows us that she knows PETA about as well as she knows geography. Yes, we campaign against the Iditarod because when the dogs aren’t being driven—sometimes to death—most live chained or inside cages for their entire lives. And we’re a vegan organization, so we sit on pleather couches, wear stylish vegan kicks, and consider fish friends, not food. (Also, by the way, we just sent a case of vegan caviar to Vladimir Putin—and no, you can’t see his house from yours, Ms. Palin.) We have no reason to believe that the Palin companion animals aren’t ordinarily pampered, and we wish the entire family a peaceful and humane 2015.

Sarah Palin STILL Doesn’t Know History

From the Facebook page of Sarah Palin, former half-term governor of Alaska:

President Palling Around With Terrorists

Good God, Mr. President. To partner with Iran is to trust the enemy, which is insane. Iran has complicity in the rise of ISIS as it supports radical militias and arms Islamic terrorists.

You’ve been the luckiest man in the world, in an un-American Democracy sort of way, to have had the liberal media in your lap allowing you to execute the least transparent presidency in history while they mock and destroy your critics for you. Until now. Even they must see that without accountability you are leading us into very, very dangerous territory.

In the 2008 campaign Sen. McCain and I warned, on behalf of every reasonable person, that your willingness to negotiate with terrorists would get Americans killed; that pulling an anti-Reagan move by taking our Big Stick of strength and putting it in the hands of any foe could be insurmountably devastating for our allies. Iran is one of Israel’s staunchest enemies. Mr. President, who is advising you to come against Israel?

What is wrong with you, Barack Obama? You can not pal around with terrorists and expect us to survive.

– Sarah Palin

I’m guessing Caribou Barbie is unaware her hero Ronald Reagan had a little thing called the Iran/Contra affair…

Alaska: Sarah Palin Endorses The Opponent Of Her Former Lt. Governor

Gov. Sean Parnell (L) and Bill Walker (R)

In an interesting bit of news, it seems the Sarah Palin, the former half-term governor of Alaska, has endorsed not her former Lt. Governor – Sean Parnell – who replaced her when she chose to quit in her first term, but his opponent, Independent candidate Bill Walker.

From the National Journal:

Parnell’s 2013 restructuring of the state’s oil and gas taxes dismantled a prior, Palin-championed program that she considered to be one of the greatest achievements of her tenure. That difference of opinion is at the heart of Palin’s conflict with Parnell, which resulted in the two campaigning on opposite sides of a ballot measure in this year’s primary.

It’s worth noting that when Gov. Parnell indicated that he would appeal the recent ruling against the state’s ban on same-sex marriage, Walker issued a statement that he felt an appeal would be an “unwise use of our dwindling resources:

Walker, an attorney, responded later Sunday with criticism of the state’s decision to appeal the ruling. A recent ruling from the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals — which includes Alaska in its jurisdiction — said bans on same-sex marriage violate the due process and equal protection clauses of the 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. Such higher court rulings make the probability of a successful appeal when similar bans have already been overturned in other states unlikely.

Walker said he personally viewed marriage as existing between a man and a woman, but added that if he were governor, he would “uphold the laws of the land.”

“Despite my personal views on marriage, with the state’s dire financial crisis, pursuing expensive litigation that has little chance of victory is an unwise use of our dwindling resources.”

Sarah Palin Doesn’t Know Where White House Is Located

Apparently (don’t you love sentences that begin with the word “apparently?”), Sarah Palin spoke at the anti-gay “Values Voter Summit” today where she said truth was an endangered species at the White House.

Except, in her smug little way, she thought she’d be cute and use the address of the White House.

You know – the one located at “1400 Pennsylvania Avenue?”

Yeah, I don’t know that one either. I’m guessing she meant “1600 Pennsylvania Avenue” – which is where the White House is actually located.

See, when you get too cute, karma has a way of slapping back at you.

Btw – note the tepid response from the crowd. And these are HER people. I’m guessing the Palin magic faded (a while back).
