Satire: “Not Alone”

Spot on satire video on the current crop of folks whining and wailing about their “religious freedoms” being offended by the passage of marriage equality.

“You cannot have a society of hatred, or a society of bigotry, unless, I mean, you know, you’re me and my friends”

Here’s the original video (from Catholic Vote) as described by AdWeek:

The ad, with a straight face, position Catholics as a persecuted group for not having their message of intolerance (here blatantly recast as its opposite) widely accepted these days.

It even plays like a coming-out video for Catholics who are afraid to take the “brave” step of voicing their objection to equality.

That’s a pretty audacious tactic—disingenuous and disrespectful, to say the least.

Funny: Scorpion vs. Jason Vorrhees

Imagine if you dropped Jason Voorhees (of Friday the 13th fame) into the world of Mortal Kombat pitting the deadly killer against Scorpion, one of the games popular players.

Of course, you’d want some comedy to go along with that wouldn’t you?

Check out this live action spoof of the video that proves Jason is just about as badass as we always thought.

Brian Rosenthal wrote and directed the short with Derek Russo starring as “Jason” and Xavier Rodriguez starring as “Scorpion.” Russo also did the fight choreography.

I follow Russo on Twitter where he describes himself as “Actor, comic, closet intellectual, all-around smart ass. Likes football & Rubgy. Dislikes soccer & religion. Huge, Italian, LOUD, original, driven, fearless.”

He leaves out “hunky and handsome” for some reason 🙂

I suggest you follow him as he’s funny, opinionated and an LGBT ally – all the things I like to see in my Twitter feed.

Watch the “battle” below. And follow Russo at twitter.com/DRusso97

SNL: The Return Of Fake Notorious RBG

The subject of marriage equality returned to Saturday Night Live last night when Fake Notorious Ruth Bader Ginsberg made an appearance on Weekend Update to deliver some “Ginsburns” zingers.

“The arguments I heard were so weak, I just hope they’re not holding up Justice Scalia’s chair,” zinged Ginsburg.”

From Saturday Night Live:

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg (Kate McKinnon) takes shots at Justice Antonin Scalia and the state of Kentucky while discussing the Supreme Court’s upcoming ruling on marriage equality.

House Of Cards Gets Sesame Sreet Parody Treatment

Clip description: Some people say there’s too much pork in this town. Frank Underwolf could not agree more. And that is why Mr. Underwolf is on a mission to huff and puff and blow down all the little pigs’ houses.

In this town, you have to know which way the wind is blowing, and unfortunately, for those little piggies, it’s about to get very windy.

Meryl Streep, Christine Baranski & Tracey Ullman Parody Sondheim For Rob Marshall

Into the Woods stars Christine Baranski, Tracey Ullman, and Meryl Streep prepared a little something to honor Rob Marshall (receiving this year’s New York Apple Award) this past Sunday at the Artios Awards, the Casting Society of America’s annual bash honoring achievements in casting.

Some cute lines like “Rob took us all to the festival” and “Sometimes people cast you, just because you’re good…”

Parody: George Takei’s “My Husband’s Not Straight”

You knew a parody of the recent TLC show, My Husband’s Not Gay, would land eventually.

And thanks to George Takei, My Husband’s Not Straight has arrived.

From the YouTube description: “Some friends of mine had fun lampooning My Husband’s Not Gay on TLC, which showcases gays in Salt Lake who are married to women. What if straight men tried the same in a gay world? Have a look friends.”
