New Music: Martin Garrix & Troye Sivan “There For You”

Earlier this week, DJ/producer Martin Garrix and Troye Sivan released their latest collaboration, “There For You.”

Billboard’s take on the track:

The two 21-year-olds take on San Francisco in the highly-stylize clip. Sivan is adorable and endearing as he sings about how fake the world and everyone in it can feel. Sometimes, you just need a good friend, but good friends are made through actions, not just words. Martin Garrix is the friend he needs, giving his vulnerable vocals a pop-colored backbone ready for radio takeover.

“There For You” has a cute hook that shows Garrix’ future bass obsession isn’t quite finished. This is one bubbly beat that won’t let you down. Catch the feels for yourself below.

Out Music: Matt Zarley Talks On His New Album, “The Estrogen Sessions”

Award-winning out singer/songwriter Matt Zarley talks about his new album, The Estrogen Sessions, featuring his covers of his favorite music divas.

A Broadway veteran (A Chorus Line, Tommy, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat), Billboard charting recording artist AND People Magazine‘s first out “Hottest Bachelor,” Zarley recorded this collection of songs as a tribute to the divas who have influenced his recording career.

The hunky singer was honored with “Best Album” and “Best Single” accolades for his album, Change Begins With Me, at the 2012 OutMusic Awards.

I often hear folks in the LGBT community say, “Why aren’t there more out pop music artists? More really good out pop music artists?”

Well, here he is. Terrific voice, great acoustic arrangements of songs you know and love. What’s not to like?

If you like pure, mainstream pop music, hit the play button below.

Listen in as Matt shares his covers of hits by Whitney Houston, Sara Bareilles, Celine Dion, Dolly Parton, Pink and more.

Out Music: Tom Goss “More Than Temporary”

Randy Report favorite Tom Goss shares this uber-romantical music video just in time for Valentine’s Day – “More Than Temporary” from his album, What Doesn’t Break.

In telling the story of blossoming young love, Tom spotlights senior LGBT couples as guiding inspiration.

From Tom: “If you let it, love will blossom. Look to these LGBT seniors for inspiration. Their example will light the way.”

“I’m grateful to those that have come before me. They have paved the way for the rights and privileges that I take for granted,” he told The Huffington Post. “Hopefully this video can highlight the beauty and inspiration of LGBTQ seniors, and in turn, give an example to those that are hesitant to dive into love.”

The video was directed by Christopher Turner, who makes a cameo appearance with his other half, author Armistead Maupin, well-known for his Tales of the City series of novels.

Out Music: Summer Luk “Part Of Me”

Summer Luk, who describes herself as “a musician who’s trans, not a trans musician,’ shares a personal essay with The Advocate about her new music video, “Part of Me.”

In the op-ed, Luk explains why she fought against the narrative that trans women should be limited to portrayals that are only “sad and painful.”

Through music, I get to tell a different story about myself. Although my song “Part of Me” isn’t revolutionary or radical, it is a song that gives me permission to feel the feelings that I had to suppress as a youth in a conservative Christian household. This song, like all my other songs, was my way of learning to see myself through my own eyes and to acknowledge that while there’s a part of me that has experienced sadness, there are also parts of me that are silly, sassy, and even downright cheesy. I believe that only when I can acknowledge all these parts will I find the strength to move forward because I’m not leaving any part of me behind.

That is why I’ll always do what I’m not supposed to do as a musician who happens to be trans. That is why I will always write, perform, and exist not as a trans musician but as a musician who is trans.
