Broadway cast recording of “Hedwig and the Angry Inch” gets July 1 release date

Nominated for 8 Tony Awards this year, the Broadway production of “Hedwig and the Angry Inch” will release the new cast recording on July 1.

The celebrated revival of John Cameron Mitchell and Stephen Trask’s cult rock musical opened April 22 at the Belasco Theatre with Neil Patrick Harris starring as Hedwig, a fictional East German singer living as a female after botched gender-reassignment surgery. Lena Hall costars as Yitzhak, Hedwig’s husband and backup singer, who’s desperate to unleash his inner drag diva.

Composer and producer of the album Stephen Trask on the new recording: “Anyone who has spent more than five minutes with me in the last three months knows how excited I am by the new versions of these songs. The talents of Neil and Lena and this amazing f*cking band have made these the best version of the score ever.”

While you wait for the cast recording, don’t miss the cast perform on the 2014 Tony Awards June 8 on CBS.

Neil Patrick Harris and Jason Segel sing "The Confrontation" from Les Miz on "At The Actor's Studio"

What happens when you ask two TV actors to sing a duet – on the fly LIVE – that has nothing to do with their TV series?

If you’re a fan of musical theatre, this will makes you laugh. We’ve all done this in our living rooms at some point…

Neil Patrick Harris and Jason Segel of How I Met Your Mother Sing “Confrontation” from Les Miserables (Inside the Actors Studio (2014)

Apparently, Neil and Jason sing this together onset as an ongoing joke. I think the first time they did it on TV was 8 years ago on the now-defunct Megan Mullally Show.

2013 Emmy Awards opening “Monologue”

In one of the few fun things about last night’s Emmy Awards, Neil Patrick Harris tried to open the Emmys, but was interrupted by past hosts of the show, including Jimmy Kimmel, Jane Lynch, Jimmy Fallon, Conan O’Brien, and finally Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.

“Said Lynch: I want to tell you why I wasn’t asked back. I wasn’t asked back because I am a woman.”

Replied Harris: “Oh, c’mon Jane. I don’t think anyone who watched that night thought of you as a woman.”

Lynch: “I’m gonna show you just how much of a woman I am Harris.”

Harris: “I wouldn’t like it, Lynch.”

Lynch: “I would like it less, Harris.”

Neil Patrick Harris to marry David Burtka

Neil Patrick Harris says that he’s finally ready to put a ring on it and make an honest man out of his fiancé David Burtka.

The couple have been engaged now for seven years and had twins Harper and Gideon via surrogate in 2010. With DOMA now dead, and same-sex weddings back online in California, the couple is planning their very own, though no date is set as yet.

“Certainly, we have children and marriage is an appropriate thing to do [as] a part of their well being, so I’m sure it will be inevitable—and awesome!” Harris told E! News over the weekend. “We’re about to move to New York so it’s a tricky situation. I don’t know if it would be an east coast or west coast thing.”

“I’m not one who jumps around and cheers and screams because I thought that was inevitable and was going to happen,” he told E!. “It’s logical. If you look at public opinion polls, everyone, the majority of people, are very for people that fall in love with each other being able to own that.”
