Sunday Pool Song: Pat Benatar “Shadows of the Night”

We typed in “Cher” in Pandora today by the pool getting psyched for tonight’s concert here in Vegas.

We got one Cher song, then this came on. What a great 80s vocal. Love Pat Benatar.

This track came from her 1982 album “Get Nervous.” The track hit #13 on BIllboard and the album hit #4.

Couldn’t find the official music video on YouTube. Darn it.  You’ll remember Pat played a WWII pilot on a mission – love those 80s “story” videos.

Benatar is still out there rocking with a concert schedule of over 30 dates this summer. Rock on.

Music: Lea Michele “On My Way”

In what could be an ironic nod to her GLEE character “Rachel Berry,” Lea Michele is at times somewhat infatuated with herself (see screen capture above) in this new music video for her single “On My Way” from her debut album LOUDER. When she’s not focused on herself, she’s smoldering at us the audience. Nothing wrong with it really, but it feels like she’s trying pretty hard here.

The video seems to be a road trip with girl friends out having fun until she meets the scruffy, blond guy who seems to drive her to her “blackout state of mind.”

Catchy enough song with lyrics about taking chances.

Music video: Michael Jackson & Justin Timberlake “Love Never Felt So Good”

New video for the first single “Love Never Felt So Good” from the new Michael Jackson album XSCAPE.

The video cuts focus on Michael Jackson’s famous dance moves. Timberlake wisely avoids recreating the steps, but he drops some of the Jackson style on us.

You can definitely imagine this song being from Jackson’s Off The Wall era. The video context helps the song, in my opinion.

XSCAPE is an album of previously unreleased Michael Jackson songs. The album is produced and curated by Epic Records Chairman and CEO L.A. Reid, who retooled the production to add a fresh, contemporary sound that retains Jackson’s essence and integrity. It’s a process Reid calls “contemporizing.”

New music video from Tom Goss “Illuminate The Dark”

Tom Goss

Tom Goss has just released his gorgeous and touching new music video “Illuminate The Dark.”

The video features veteran turned model and actor Alex Minsky, whose motivational story of losing his leg at war has landed him on The View, The Today Show, GMA, and Jay Leno.

Also featured is Lori Duron and her son C.J., the author and subject of the award-winning book and blog, Raising My Rainbow: Adventures in Raising a Fabulous, Gender Creative Son.

Diamondback Annie, rock and roll showgirl and award-winning burlesque star is also featured.

Music: Lilly Wolf “Dollhouse”

I hit play on the latest single “Dollhouse” off Lilly Wolf’s recently released EP This Painted Life HERE and bounced in my chair through the whole track.

Lilly and producer Alex Neuhausen, better known as Dr. Nu, create pop tunes that combine the artistry and melodic hooks of legends like Katy Perry and Britney Spears with the big beats and huge synths of contemporary EDM stars like Calvin Harris and Wolfgang Gartner.

Lilly and Neuhausen have licensed their music to Bunim-Murray and have had their songs featured on “The Bad Girls Club” and “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” plus have developed a dedicated fan base in the Brooklyn underground dance pop community.

On top of the fun music, Lilly is an LGBT ally who’s embraced her straight and gay fans alike.

Las Vegas headliner Matt Goss sings “Strong” on Fox & Friends

Las Vegas headliner Matt Goss releases his new CD "Life You Imagine"

Las Vegas headliner Matt Goss dropped by Fox & Friends to share “Strong” – a track from his new CD Life You Imagine.

Goss recently spoke to Advocate.com about the song:

“It’s interesting that the song has already been so many different things to different people,” Goss says of the tune.

“A friend of mine who was overweight and wanted to get fit told me she used it every day to encourage her when she exercised, and it was also just used on Good Morning America when they were covering the Boston Marathon.

“So for somebody who is coming out – which has many different levels to it and can obviously be a torment-filled moment – if that song can encourage people to be strong in that moment and have courage to believe in who they are, then I’m a lucky man.”

A strong LGBT ally, Goss isn’t shy about sharing his thoughts on opposition to marriage equality today:

“It’s absolutely wrong, and that’s why I support marriage equality,” says Goss.

“How can someone be a loving partner for 20 years and have no rights? Who decides that? There is no question that this is a human rights issue and all people deserve the right to be acknowledged.

“It always seems to come down to a bigger question of faith and religion for a lot of people, but that’s not the point. We don’t need to get into all of that. That’s something that is a personal matter. Because in regards to basic human rights, people should be given the same rights across the board – it’s not even a question. That’s just something that just has to be. “
