Madonna booed in Michigan over election year politics
Even though her heart was in the right place, Madonna received boos for introducing election year politics at her concert in Detroit, Michigan having taken to the stage hours late.
In her first concert since the presidential election, Madge received loud boos mixed with cheering across Joe Louis Arena as she waxed enthusiastic about President Barack Obama, describing herself as “ecstatically happy” about Tuesday’s result.
A week before the election in New Orleans a week before the election she was met with jeers after encouraging fans to vote for the president.
This time she acknowledged the negative reaction.
“You can boo all you want,” she told the Detroit crowd, “but I’ve been to countries around the world where people can’t vote for their leaders.”

Madonna being sued by anti-gay Russians
A group of ten anti-gay activists are suing Madonna after the singer praised equality during her concert in St. Petersburg, where saying nice things about LGBT people is against the law.
According to the suit, the plaintiffs have suffered “moral damage” because Madonna spoke out in favor of LGBT equality:
“She (Madonna) had been warned with words that she should behave in line with the law and she ignored it. So we will speak in the language of money,” said Darya Dedova, one of the 10 activists who filed the lawsuit in a St Petersburg court. “Of course, it is difficult to measure moral damages and suffering but maybe people who earn money regardless of moral rules will better understand this,” Dedova said. She added if they won the case, the money would be sent to orphanages. “Maybe someone does not see the link but after Madonna’s concert maybe some boy becomes gay, some girl becomes lesbian, fewer children are born as a result and this big country cannot defend its borders – for me it causes moral suffering,” said Alexei Kolotkov, another of the activists who filed the suit.
Yes Alexei – once you hear the voice of Madonna, you become gay. That’s how it works. You’ve figured it out…
Madonna speaks out for respect for gays at St. Petersburg concert
As promised, Madonna made a clear statement about her position on respect for gays at her concert in St. Petesburg, Russia, last night despite threats that doing so might cause her to be arrested.
“Do we live in fear?” Madonna reportedly asked the audience, who of course responded in the negative.
She was not arrested.
Elton John goes after Madonna – again – in Australian interview
Elton John really seems to have it out for Madonna. In an interview with Australian journalist Molly Meldrum, Elton dissed Madge in addition to talking about his own career, and his 19-month-old son Zachary: “Fate took a big hand in my life.” Lady Gaga is Elton’s son’s godmother, and Elton took the opportunity to offer his opinion on some of her pop music peers, including Madonna, about whom he didn’t mince words. “Her career’s over. Her tour’s been a disaster. And it couldn’t happen to a bigger c*nt.” He added: “If Madonna had any common sense she would have made a record like Ray Of Light and stayed away from the dance stuff and just been a great pop singer and make great pop records, which she does brilliantly. But no, she had to prove that she was like… and she looks like a f*cking fairground stripper. She’s been so horrible to Gaga.” (via Towleroad)
