International superstar and multiple Grammy Award-winner Olivia Newton-John, with her friends Grammy nominee Beth Nielsen Chapman and SOCAN Award-winner Amy Sky, joined forces to create LIV ON, a collaborative, eleven-song collection which focuses on uplifting hearts burdened by grief while at the same time bring comfort to the listener.
Olivia Newton-John and her collaborators sat down with me to talk about the new album intended to aid & comfort those experiencing grief and loss while using the power of music to heal.
This inspiring new project grew out of the three artists’ personal experiences with loss and illness, which they all survived to “LIV ON” and celebrate each day with a depth of gratitude.
“LIV ON” – means “to thrive, to have hope and to remember.” The message is clear in the lyrics of the album’s title song:
Live on, Live on
Brighter skies will come again
Cry the tears you cry
And then live on, live on
Love is all we leave when we are gone…Live on
Loss and grief occur for many reasons – whether it’s losing a loved one, a relationship, one’s health, a pet, or a job, to name just a few. It’s important to remember that each person’s grief is as individual as his or her DNA – and there truly is no timeline for healing from loss.
Olivia, Beth and Amy called upon their personal experiences in creating this collection of songs which will aid, uplift and comfort those working their way through the maze of grief and loss.

This past Sunday night, Nashville celebrated the best of the best in honoring this year’s inductees into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame.
Olivia Newton-John and Amy Sky performed Hall of Fame inductee Beth Nielsen Chapman‘s moving “Sand and Water” in her honor. The song is included in the new album from the three artists released last week, LIV ON.
Chapman wrote the song in the aftermath of losing her husband to cancer, and has been featured in several films and TV shows.
I’ve loved the song since I first heard it back in the 90s. As a cancer survivor myself, I’m moved every time I hear the words.
It’s especially touching to see Chapman’s son (who is referenced in the lyrics of the song) perform with Newton-John and Sky here.
Spent much of yesterday on set at the Hallmark Channel’s “Home & Family” show where 4-time Grammy Award winner Olivia Newton-John, Beth Nielsen Chapman and Amy Sky were promoting their new album, LIV ON.
The show airs Monday, October 10th on the Hallmark Channel.
The collection of songs is inspired by the personal losses the artists experienced, with the hope that the songs can help people move through grief and loss.
The album is available for download on all major music sites, and you can catch a tease of their live performance of “Stone in my Pocket” below.
It’s always more fun to hear long-length interviews with our favorite music artists when they can talk without the limit of a 4-5 minute time length, like on a TV talk show.
Olivia Newton-John chats with Andy Cohen on SiriusXM Radio on her long career, her residency at the Flamingo Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, and her new music project LIV ON with acclaimed singer/songwriters Beth Nielsen Chapman and Amy Sky.
The album will be available for download on Friday, October 7th. Pre-order here.
Olivia Newton-John, Beth Nielsen Chapman and Amy Sky chat with Jenny McCarthy about their new album, LIV ON.
The unique project brings the three acclaimed singer/songwriters together to explore and move through grief – a subject rarely addressed by popular music.
I’ve heard the album and it’s quite fabulous. Trading lead vocals, harmonizing beautifully, the trio delivers a collection of songs that I think many people facing loss will be able to connect to on a deeply emotional level.
Via press release:
This very special collection of songs will help lift the hearts of others going through their own hardship, whatever the cause.
From the uplifting “Stone In My Pocket” to the poignant, “My Heart Goes Out To You,” the songs on the “LIV ON” CD take the listener on a journey of remembrance, toward one of inspiration and hope.
LIV ON also brings listeners epic songs such as Beth Nielsen Chapman’s “Sand and Water” which was created following the passing of her husband.
As well, the three mega-stars have created several brand new songs, including the title track, “Live On,” which born of their own exploration into the pain of loss, the growth that follows and eventually, the journey toward renewed joy.
People.com has an exclusive first look at Olivia Newton-John’s new music video, “Live On,” from her upcoming album with Amy Sky and Beth Nielsen Chapman – LIV ON.
“As a group, it’s our intention with this album to create songs with a message of compassion and hope,” said Newton-John, 68. “They are for anyone facing a time of challenge in their life, whether it is grieving a loss or on the journey to health and recovery.”
“I’m so lucky to be here, and I treasure every moment of it,” Newton-John told PEOPLE after beating cancer. “I don’t take anything for granted.”
Newton-John is also urging others to share their “LIV ON journey” to create a community of care for those impacted by cancer.
