News report from Sunday’s rally to protest Pastor Charles Worley, who recently preached the idea that gays and lesbians should be put in concentration camps with electrified fences until they died.
Follower of Pastor “Put homosexuals behind a fence” Worley defends position
OMG! You have to watch this interview with Anderson Cooper and Stacey Pritchard of North Carolina Pastor Worley’s congregation.
She somewhat incoherently defends Pastor Worley’s desire to put homosexuals behind an electrified fence.
She starts out saying “of course he would never want that to happen” then diverts to “being taken out of context” to “this is 2012 – that doesn’t happen.” Even with Anderson Cooper saying “this IS happening in Iraq and Iran.”
Fascinating. Seriously. This is what “hate” looks like in America.
BSmith ad celebrates gay marriage
For a quarter of a century, B. Smith Enterprises has quietly supported those in need by being the center of the community on Restaurant Row in New York City, and will now be running an ad playfully supporting gay marriage in Dan’s Papers this weekend and throughout the summer.
Inspired by the six colors of the rainbow that symbolize gay and lesbian community pride (pictured), it says:
According to Dan Gasby, Chairman of B. Smith Enterprises, “B. Smith stands for civil rights and human rights; for people whom, no matter what their political leanings or religious beliefs, should be free to love who they choose unfettered. Coming off of President Obama’s recent support of gay marriage, we wanted to make a statement about how we believe the world should be. Our message: be thankful, be supportive, be expressive, be yourself. We also want to commend the NAACP for their courage and leadership in supporting and recognizing this critical human rights issue: people should be allowed to love whomever they wish.”
Floyd Mayweather supports gay marriage
From TMZ: Floyd Mayweather is squaring off against Manny Pacquiao … and once again it’s NOT in the ring — this time they’re fighting over gay marriage.
With the media still buzzing over Manny’s controversial condemnation of gay marriage… Pretty Boy Floyd released a counter-statement on Twitter saying: “I stand behind President Obama & support gay marriage. I’m an American citizen & I believe people should live their life the way they want.”
There’s a champion…

Colorado civil unions bill fails – again
Yet another attempt to pass civil unions in Colorado has failed, and apparently not because the legislation lacked the requisite votes.
During a special legislative session called by Gov. John Hickenlooper, the GOP-controlled House State, Veterans, and Military Affairs Committee voted 5-4 along party lines against the bill, which prevented a full House vote.
Just weeks ago, the bill, already passed by the senate, had cleared the House Judiciary Committee, gaining support from a key GOP member. Several Republicans had indicated that they would vote in favor, potentially reversing a failed attempt last year to pass civil unions.
But the committee vote killed that possibility. One GOP committee member who opposed the bill and has a gay son explained that a “yes” vote would have been at direct odds with a constitutional amendment against marriage equality passed by Colorado voters in 2006, the Denver Post reports.
Poll: 62% of Americans support same-sex unions
A new CBS News/New York Times poll shows that 62 percent of Americans support recognizing same-sex relationships via either full marriage equality or civil unions. That number jumped to 70 percent when asked of those aged 18-44 across parties. Independent voters back marriage equality and civil unions by a robust 62 percent.
A Gallup poll released late last week also showed that a considerable majority of independents strongly backed President Obama’s support for marriage equality.
Despite the growing public support for marriage equality, Mitt Romney continues to buck the will of the majority of Americans – supporting neither marriage equality nor civil unions. That position puts him further to the right on LGBT equality than even former President George W. Bush, who did support civil unions.

Ever wonder who opposes LGBT rights? Here you go…
This, folks, is exactly who opposes equal rights for all.
Take a listen to this woman, Jane Skrovota, at this week’s hearings regarding a proposed LGBT non-discrimination ordinance in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Some of the reasons this woman objects to LGBT people receiving protection from employment and housing discrimination:
“P- E- N- I- S goes into the anus to rupture intestines. The more a man does this the more he’ll be a fatality or a homicider…”
“A huge percent of gay men in school grounds molest boys, partly because they don’t have AIDS yet…”
“Hillary Clinton’s roommate four years in college was a gay woman. To avoid going gay like Clinton did, college students need single rooms and single gender dorms… A college woman is seduced with illegal Rohypnol to go gay.”
“Candida fungus grows hugely on a corpse. AIDS is a candida fungus disease…”
“Roman senators went to Roman baths to be promiscuous gays, bis, and orgiers then went to the Coliseum to watch Christians get mauled and perish. Do gays become this sadistic? Yes. They cuss after coupling, don’t like the land they lay on, and 80% of those that did treason by the year 2000 are gays.”
“Gays can transform to be celibate to live to be 80 years old.”
“Read the book Nijinsky to understand that bisexuals always become insane.”
“A wedding dress is for a woman not a man.”
“Jesus was kissed by Judas, a homo, who tried to sabotage Jesus’ kind ideas. Do you choose Jesus, a celibate, or Judas, a homo? You have to choose!”
Love the reaction of the guy behind her.
There you have it folks: this is what stands between the LGBT community and equal rights.
More wine!

North Carolina passes Amendment One, writes discrimination into state constitution
North Carolina has voted to constitutionally prohibit any domestic union other than a marriage between a man and a woman, the AP reports.
In doing so, voters have also banned civil unions and stripped same-sex couples of domestic partnership benefits. Voters have eliminated health care, prescription drug coverage and other benefits for public employees and children receiving benefits through domestic partnerships.
North Carolina is now the 30th state with a constitutional ban on same-sex marriage.
