Warner Bros has set a release date of July 3, 2015 for “Magic Mike 2.”
This will be a sequel to the original film, directed by Steven Soderbergh and loosely based on Channing Tatum‘s early days as a male stripper, which landed as a surprise hit of 2012.
Financed and produced by Soderbergh and Tatum, the movie was a major score (starring Tatum, Matthew McConaughey, Alex Pettyfer, Matt Bomer and Joe Manganiello) banking $113.7M at the domestic box office — one of Soderbergh’s most lucrative movies ever.
A Broadway version of the film is now in development as well.

Joe Manganiello, of True Blood and Magic Mike fame, has produced a documentary about life as a male stripper at the iconic La Bare club in Dallas, Texas.
The film began life as a teaser for a reality show Manganiello was planning. But the further Manganiello and his producing partner brother Nick delved into the lives of the dancers, the more it became clear that a documentary was the way to go.
After a very successful debut at Slamdance Film Festival in January, Manganiello now has set a release date for his film of June 27th.

Joe Manganiello’s directorial debut – “La Bare” – which had it’s premiere at Slamdance Film Festival, has already signed a distribution deal according to Deadline:
Main Street Films has acquired distribution rights to La Bare, a documentary directed by Joe Manganiello about the history, lives and culture of the world’s most popular male strip club, La Bare Dallas.
Manganiello, who played Big Dick Richie alongside Channing Tatum in the Steven Soderbergh-directed Magic Mike, made the film through 3:59 Inc., which is run by his brother, Nick Manganiello.
The deal was worth mid six-figures for North American and Chinese rights and includes a commitment by Main Street to give the docu a 20-market U.S. theatrical release in the summer.
Of course, if ANYONE understands the power of taking off his clothes, it would be Joe…
