It’s been a great year for Tony Award-winner Idina Menzel: starring on Broadway again in this year’s IF/THEN; garnering a Tony Award nomination for that performance; releasing a fab holiday album; and then there’s the small matter of the Disney blockbuster Frozen for which she supplied vocals for the most famous movie song of the year “Let It Go.”
One more thing to add to the list – a new video of her performance of the eleven o’clock number from IF/THEN, “Always Starting Over.”
Filmed both onstage at the Richard Rodgers Theatre and in the recording studio, we get the best of both worlds here.
The show is still running on Broadway, and the cast recording is available here.
Watch the luminous Ms. Menzel deliver her fab performance below:

Regular readers of The Randy Report know that my favorite charity is Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, which I’ve long supported with my time and dollars. Very near and dear to my heart.
Each year in November and December, Broadway shows take part in a six week fundraising period which leads up to the “Gypsy of the Year” competition. During the six weeks before the big “Gypsy of the Year” show, cast members think of whatever creative ways they can to encourage donations after each performance of their respective shows.
How’s this for a one of a kind experience?
Tony Award-winning actress Idina Menzel, currently starring in the Broadway production of If/Then, offers an impromptu rendition of the “Frozen” hit “Let It Go” as part of a post-curtain fundraiser for BC/EFA.
For more info about BC/EFA, head to the official website. And if you do plan to make a holiday donation this year, please consider this incredible organization that has led the way for decades in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
Broadway fans! Idina Menzel fans!
The “First Listen” for the Broadway Cast Recording of If/Then starring Idina Menzel is available now via USATODAY. Listen to the entire album here.
IF/THEN marks Idina Menzel’s return to Broadway for the first time since winning the Tony Award for Wicked.
If/Then reunites Tom Kitt (music), Brian Yorkey (book and lyrics), and Michael Greif (director), the creative team behind the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning musical, Next to Normal.
IF/THEN follows Idina Menzel’s character, “Elizabeth,” as she rebuilds her life in New York, a city of infinite possibilities. This contemporary musical is set where choice and chance collide. In one moment, Elizabeth will lead parallel lives. This is the story of both.
The CD will be available June 3, 2014.
Earlier this month the cast of Broadway’s IF/THEN raised money for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS by auctioning off a live rendition of ‘Seasons of Love.’
Now, the cast of IF/THEN has done it again, this time with Idina Menzel singing ‘Take Me or Leave Me’ with lucky audience member, Sarah Elizabeth Smith, at last night’s show!
