John Travolta apologized and sent huge bouquet of flowers to Idina Menzel

E! News has learned that John Travolta sent Idina Menzel a giant bouquet of flowers about a week and a half ago to formally apologize for the snafu, which occurred onstage at the 86th Annual Academy Awards when Travolta was introducing the actress-singer before her performance of “Let It Go,” during which time he seemingly called the Frozen beauty “Adele Dazeem.”

“He sent  her a big, gorgeous bouquet of flowers to her dressing room. It was HUGE. It was his apology to her,” a source exclusively tells E! News.

Travolta sent the flowers to Menzel at the location of her new musical on Broadway, If/Then, at the Richard Rogers Theatre in New York.

Parody song “Adele Dazeem” sung to the tune of “La Vie Boheme” from RENT

I know the topic/joke has gotten stale already, BUT…

This little parody song, sung to the RENT tune “La Vie Boheme,” is pretty funny having “Travolta-ized” every name in the song. Everyone’s name gets mangled in this one.

Clever.

So take just one more second to remember the fabulous “Adele Dazeem” as sung by Randy Rainbow.

John Travolta responds to Oscar night flub of Idina Menzel introduction

The past two days have been full of jokes and laughs at the expense of John Travolta after he butchered Idina Menzel’s name during the introduction to perform the Oscar winning song “Let It Go” from FROZEN.

It turns out the public isn’t alone on the subject. Travolta told E! News that he wasn’t very happy about the incident himself:

“I’ve been beating myself up all day,” the Be Cool star said in a statement to E! News. “Then I thought…What would Idina Menzel say? She’d say, ‘Let it go, let it go!’ Idina is incredibly talented and I am so happy Frozen took home two Oscars Sunday night!”

Word is Travolta was just fine during rehearsals on Saturday. So who knows what happened?

Idina apparently wasn’t thrown by the flub. E! News says a source said she hugged Travolta backstage after singing. “The Oscars were a dream come true for Idina,” the source said. “She wasn’t going to let anything get in the way of that.”

And yesterday, she tweeted, “Still pinching myself over my entire #Oscars experience. Dream come true.”

Tonight Show performance of “Let It Go” – Idina Menzel puts “Adela Dazeem” in her place

After all the talk and shenanigans surrounding Idina Menzel’s introduction by John Travolta at the Oscars Sunday night and her subsequent performance, Idina gave a fun and effortless performance of “Let It Go” from FROZEN on The Tonight Show with backup by Jimmy Fallon and The Roots.

Idina, in great form, is relaxed and clearly having a great time as she soars through the Oscar winning song.

Broadway star Idina Menzel sings "Let It Go" in FROZEN

Broadway star Idina Menzel performs “Let It Go” in this full sequence from Disney’s epic comedy adventure Frozen.  After four weeks, the animated feature has grossed over $164 million worldwide.

Frozen features eight original songs from songwriting duo Kristen and Robert Lopez, including the gripping “Let It Go,” Elsa’s self-defining anthem.

‘Let It Go’ was written by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez (Robert’s work on Broadway includes the htis The Book of Mormon and Avenue Q).  Said Robert; ‘We wanted to write the biggest, beltiest diva number we could channel because we knew we had Idina Menzel – who just knocks it out of the park – and we knew her character Elsa was experiencing something epic in her life.’

New video: Idina Menzel & Taye Diggs sing “I’m Not That Girl” for fan

This “duet” of sorts is of “I’m Not That Girl” from Wicked (the Broadway show for which Menzel won a Tony Award).

From a Delta Airlines Airport Lounge, this is a ‘thank you’ to Angie Arredondo for her support and participation in Samsung’s 2013 Hope for Children campaign.

As a result of her – and everyone’s – votes, Idina & Taye’s youth arts charity, A BroaderWay, will receive a donation from Samsung!

Idina Menzel heading back to Broadway

Ok, musical theater fans, Idina Menzel is heading back to Broadway.

Next Spring, Idina will star in a new musical by the “Next to Normal” team of composer Tom Kitt and the lyricist and book writer Brian Yorkey.  Just to remind you they won 3 Tony Awards including Best Score plus a Pulitzer Prize for drama.  So they know a little something about the craft.

The show, called “If/Then,” is about a woman about to turn 40 who moves to NYC looking for a fresh start.

From the New York Times:

“Like “Next to Normal,” which centered on a mother struggling with mental illness, “If/Then” is a contemporary-sounding musical about a strongly drawn female protagonist, Elizabeth, who Ms. Menzel described in a statement as “complex, flawed, and surprising.” Beyond Elizabeth’s goals – a new home and friends, and hopes for a resurgent career – little else was revealed about the character in the announcement Thursday, although the titles of two of Elizabeth’s songs – “Here I Go” and “You Learn to Live Without” – offer some flavor. Ms. Menzel is expected to perform those songs on Friday at an American Songbook series concert featuring the work of Mr. Kitt and Mr. Yorkey.”

Hopes are to see the fab new show starting previews March 4, 2014 with a tentative opening on March 27, 2014.
