Halloween Costumes: This Cookie Monster Has His Eye On A Snack

Ray (left) and Zed (right) try out some sexy Halloween costumes (All images via Grindr)
Grindr asked real-life YouTube couple Zed and Ray to share some early Halloween fun by trying on some pretty sexy costumes in advance of the October 31 holiday. First up, the men serve up some Sesame Street realness as Cookie Monster and a Cookie snack. Ray is clearly feeling the vibe telling Zed (who looks snack AF), “I’m really ready to eat. Can I bite you?” Next up, the guys are an updated take on Cher and Dionne from the movie Clueless. Trust and believe, these guys do NOT wear polyester hair. “As if!” We knew some Disney characters had to be in the mix and sure enough, check out this sassy version of Jasmine and Aladdin. The men laugh as they try out a few lines from the animated film after scoping each other out: “A whole new world!!” Ray and Zed bring some swagger to Tigger and Pooh as Zed keeps telling Ray, “I really like this one on you.” Zed’s Pooh knows some honey when he sees it. The wonderful thing about Tiggers is Tiggers are wonderful things. A shirtless take on Troll dolls puts the men in a party mood as the guys don huge colorful wigs and face glitter. “Give me a Troll kiss,” says Zed, and Ray leans in for the smooch. There’s more in the clip, so hit the play button below. And make sure you hang in until the end to see which costumes the guys vibe with. You can follow Ray and Zed on YouTube here and on Instagram here.

Here’s a couple of hints: she wasn’t jake about the 2015 SCOTUS marriage equality ruling and she questions the recent transgender discrimination = sex discrimination decision. #DangerWillRobinsonBloomberg News: Former Mayor Pete Buttigieg is reportedly role-playing as fellow Hoosier Vice President Mike Pence in debate prep sessions with Sen. Kamala Harris in advance of the upcoming October 7 veep face-off in Salt Lake City. • Axios: A 2018 state constitutional amendment in Florida allows for felons who have completed their prison sentences to regain their right to vote — but there’s a catch: they have to pay back any outstanding fines, fees or restitution. Billionaire Mike Bloomberg has raised over $16 million to pay off obligations for 32,000 felons who were already registered to vote in Florida just before Election Day. • NPR: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has issued new guidelines on how to celebrate Halloween safely. No big surprise: Classic door-to-door trick-or-treating and indoor haunted houses (where people will be crowded and screaming, which could send infectious particles flying) are on the no-no list. Better: outdoor ‘haunted forests’ and individually wrapped gift bags at the end of a driveway or yard while still preserving social distance. • NewNowNext: When The Ellen DeGeneres Show premiered its 18th season on Monday, Ellen (above) began the episode by addressing allegations of a toxic work environment that came to light this summer via reporting by Buzzfeed News. After rumors of demeaning treatment of staffers ran rampant, three executive producers were gone by August. Watch Ellen’s full monologue below.

Halloween PSA Reminds Parents – It’s All Just Pretend

As we head into the Halloween holiday with all its spooky, dress-up fun for everyone, I thought this PSA (which debuted in 2017) makes for a timely #ThrowbackThursday post. Boys and girls all over the country will get excited this evening about dressing up as their favorite super-hero, comic book character or cartoon persona for Halloween. And in this day and age, some of those choices might surprise parents. This public service announcement serves as a touching blueprint for moms and dads who might feel concern as their kids go house to house on Halloween as, say, “Batman” and “Wonder Woman.” In the video, two children oversee their parents carving pumpkins with the logos of their favorite superheroes before running up to their rooms to suit up for a night of Halloween fun. The two-minute video continues as the parents dutifully follow the mighty duo as they make their way from house to house in the neighborhood. We see one neighbor thanking the tiny tots for “keeping our streets safe” as the parents watch from the curb. At the end of the clip, mom and dad tuck the kids into bed and there’s an important reveal. One of the co-writers for the spot, Alexander Day, told HuffPost at the time, “Halloween can be a time people can express themselves in a certain way and not be attacked for it.”

For those who get concerned about so-called “gender norms,” just remember – the kids are pretending no matter who or what they choose to dress as. And that goes for the adults who enjoy the holiday as well. Here’s hoping everyone has a fun and safe Halloween.

My Very Favorite Witches Reunite In Time For Halloween – “A Very Wicked Halloween”

Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel reunite for “A Very Wicked Halloween”

OMG – it’s still Halloween, so I can still post my favorite witches!

NBC aired the fab “A Very Wicked Halloween” TV special this week and I loved it!

I saw the original cast twice and here we are 15 years later as the fab Broadway musical, Wicked, continues to kill it at the Gershwin Theater in New York City.

I love Wicked – it’s about women discovering their true power.

It’s about marginalized people coming to grips with their true power, and majesty.

It’s about owning who we are with pride.

Original stars Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth reunited for the special, and it was terrific.

Kristin performed “Popular,” Idina gave us “Defying Gravity,” pop star Ariana Grande delivered a terrific “The Wizard & I,” Ledisi and Adam Lambert (a former Wicked cast member) sang “As Long As You’re Mine,” and Grammy Award winners Pentatonix performed “What Is This Feeling?”

The finale of the special was Idina and Kristin joined by past ‘Elphabas’ and ‘Glindas’ for my husband’s favorite song from Wicked, “For Good.”

Check out the performances below.

Neil Patrick Harris & Family Win Halloween With Awesome Family Photo

(image via Instagram)

Neil Patrick Harris and husband David Burtka really love Halloween.

I mean, they really, really love Halloween.

And like a lot of gays, they go full-on dress-up for the annual fright-fest.

Over the years, the spooky holiday has become a family affair as the couple’s young twins have joined in on the fun taking awesome family portraits.

“We’re very excited,” said Harris in an Instagram live video prior to the reveal. “We have taken our Halloween family photo this year – I’m excited by it.”

Mr. Burtka was given the privilege of posting the family’s spook-tacular family photo, and it’s the most adorable yet.

Set in a foggy cemetery, young Harper is in the foreground dressed as a turn of the century bride holding a small, bloodied axe. And behind her, brother Gideon joins Harris and Burtka as a trio of ghosts looking for a ride.

Summoning the spirit of the famous “Hitchhiking Ghosts” from Disney’s Haunted Mansion, Burtka shared the pic with the caption, “Welcome, foolish mortals. We hope your Halloween is happily haunted, but heed this warning: beware of Hitchhiking Ghosts!”

Harris posted a link to the portrait on his Instagram writing simply, “Our Family Halloween Picture is live – well, relatively speaking…”

And in case you missed it, here’s a few “family fright-fest photos” from recent years.

Last year’s theme was inspired by American Horror Story: Freak Show, and the year prior was a homage to Hollywood legends.

Here’s wishing everyone a happy and safe Halloween!
