30 seconds of chaos at the GOP debate
Here’s where the GOP debate went completely off the rails.

This is just fascinating. Grown men acting like this trying to win votes?

Wolf Blitzer got terrible reviews for doing practically nothing to moderate the debate.

New Poll: Marco Rubio Trails Donald Trump By Double-Digits In His Homestate Of Florida

In the first new poll since former Gov. Jeb Bush dropped out of the race for the Republican presidential nomination, Donald Trump has a big lead over Sen. Marco Rubio in the state of Florida.

It goes without saying that Rubio represents Florida in the U.S. Senate.

This is very bad news for Rubio.

The survey, by Quinnipiac University, shows Trump leading Rubio 44-28 percent less than three weeks before Florida’s March 15 primary. And voters — tens of thousands of them — are already casting ballots by mail, which leaves Rubio very little time to make up the deficit against the Republican front-runner.

“If Sen. Rubio can’t win in his own home state, it is difficult to see how he can win elsewhere,” said a statement from Peter A. Brown, the poll’s assistant director.

It’s worth noting that the Florida Republican primary is “winner take all.” So Rubio’s current trend of coming in second will do him no good in this scenario.

Contrast this news with the RealClearPolitics Texas GOP poll averages showing Sen. Ted Cruz leading in HIS home state of Texas over Donald Trump and Rubio by about 7%.

Trump On Rally Protester: “I’d Like To Punch Him In The Face”

At a rally in Las Vegas last night, Republican front-runner Donald Trump told his supporters he’d like to punch protesters in the face. How very presidential.

“In the old days,” Trump said, protesters would be “carried out on stretchers.” “We’re not allowed to push back anymore.”

Trump also picked up on the ongoing vibe that Sen. Ted Cruz is “the biggest liar.”

Grab the popcorn, kids. It’s getting good.

GOP Sen. Mark Kirk Open To Obama Nominee For SCOTUS

Sen. Mark Kirk

Illinois Republican Sen. Mark Kirk has taken a step away from his party indicating that he is open to considering a Supreme Court nominee put forward by President Obama.

“I recognize the right of the president, be it Republican or Democrat, to place before the Senate a nominee for the Supreme Court and I fully expect and look forward to President Barack Obama advancing a nominee for the Senate to consider,” Kirk writes in a Chicago Sun-Times oped posted Monday afternoon.

“I also recognize my duty as a senator to either vote in support or opposition to that nominee following a fair and thorough hearing along with a complete and transparent release of all requested information,” he added. “The Senate’s role in providing advice and consent is as important and significant as the president’s role in proposing a nominee.”

Kirk’s comments represent a stark departure from those made by Republican Party leadership. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) has warned Obama not to even nominate a replacement for the late Antonin Scalia, because the GOP-controlled Senate will not act on it. McConnell, and the vast majority of his party, argue that the next president should get to choose the nominee — in hopes, of course, that the next president will be a Republican.

In addition to Kirk, Republican Sens. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), Dan Coats (R-Ind.), Susan Collins (R-Maine) and Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) have stated they may be open to considering an Obama nominee.

Jeb Bush Drops Out

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush has closed up shop after a dismal showing in the first three contests to be the 2016 Republican candidate for president.

A distant 4th place showing in South Carolina yesterday – getting only 8% of the vote – sealed Jeb’s fate.

Prior to South Carolina, there were poor showings in New Hampshire (4th place with 11%) and Iowa (6th place with only 2.8%).

Many pundits say it was just the wrong year for such an established political name. I personally felt no one wanted another Bush in the White House again after the sad state his brother left the country in back in 2008 losing over 700,000 jobs a month.

The Twitterverse was quick to respond:

Donald Trump wins South Carolina Republican Primary

Sen. Ted Cruz and Sen. Marco Rubio are in a tight race for 2nd and 3rd place.

Every major media outlet says the remaining candidates (Ohio Gov. John Kasich, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and Dr. Ben Carson) are far behind.

According to exit polls, Trump surprisingly won the majority of the evangelical vote.

Pro-Cruz Robocall Paints Donald Trump As Pro-LGBT

A new robocall hitting South Carolina voters right before the state’s Republican primary attempts to portray Donald Trump into some kind of pro-LGBT politician, and smears LGBT rights along the way.

The ad takes uses part of an interview with NECN reporter Sue O’Connell, who asks if LGBTs would continue to see forward motion under a Trump presidency.

“I’m a lesbian,” O’Connell tells Trump. “We’ve had some great progress for the gay and lesbian community through politics, through all sorts of judicial actions and elected actions over the past 20 years. When President Trump is in office, can we look for more forward motion for equality for gays and lesbians?”

Trump responds, “Well, you can. And look, that’s your thing, and other people have their thing. We have to bring all people together.” At this point, the narrator’s voice, now taking on an incredulous tone, interjects: “Stop. What does she mean by ‘forward motion’? What’s he agreeing to?”

“It’s not about tolerance anymore,” the narrator continues. “It’s about mandatory celebration. It’s about forcing people to bake cakes and photograph gay weddings. Forcing clergy to officiate. It’s about transgender bathrooms in your child’s school. It’s about tearing down our Judeo-Christian values. It’s about tearing down our America.” The recording ends with an ominous sign-off from the narrator: “Ted Cruz for president — now, before it’s too late.”

Of course, no one has ever attempted to force clergy to officiate a same-sex wedding, nor has the LGBT movement attacked Christian values. And don’t get me started on the bakers and photographers who break state non-discrimination laws.

Here’s the robocall. Please note the very “Rush Limbaugh” type voice.

President Obama: “The Constitution Is Pretty Clear” On Nominating Supreme Court Justices

After several Senate Republicans stated they did not want to hold hearings on a new Supreme Court justice nominee this year, President Obama addressed those would delay the process of replacing recently deceased Justice Antonin Scalia:

“The Constitution is pretty clear about what is supposed to happen now,” Obama said at a press conference Tuesday at the U.S.-ASEAN summit in California.

“When there is vacancy on the Supreme Court, the president of the United States is to nominate someone, the Senate is to consider that nomination, and either they disapprove of that nominee or that nominee is elevated to the Supreme Court,” Obama continued. “Historically, this has not been viewed as a question. There’s no unwritten law that says it can only be done in off years, that’s not in the constitutional text.”

Obama stressed that there was “more then enough time” for the Senate to consider the nominee he submits for consideration.
