Ben Carson Only Became A “Republican” Less Than A Year Ago

Well, this is interesting.

It seems the current #2 in the GOP race for the presidential nomination has only been an “official” Republican for less than a year.

From The American Mirror:

Republican presidential front runner Donald Trump has received a lot of scrutiny for donating to Democratic politicians in the past. But Republican primary voters may be curious to know why one of his chief rivals, Dr. Ben Carson, officially joined the Republican Party less than one year ago.

The American Mirror has obtained several public records that show Dr. Ben Carson, one of Trump’s chief rivals, did not affiliate with the Republican Party until he changed his voter registration on October 31, 2014.

Carson filed this “record update/change” on that date to change his party affiliation to “Republican Party of Florida” — less than six months before declaring his candidacy for the Republican nomination for president.

Additionally, although the good doctor was a registered voter in Maryland for many years, it seems he never voted in a primary.

Rep. Kevin McCarthy Drops Out Of Race For Speaker Of The House

Rep. Kevin McCarthy, who last week made a stunning political gaffe by admitting the House Benghazi Committee was created to take down Hillary Clinton presidential candidacy, has just announced he is dropping out of the race for Speaker of the House.

Up to now, it was a fairly foregone conclusion that McCarthy would succeed John Boehner as Speaker. But his admission last week to Fox News’ Sean Hannity created a political firestorm for him.

Speaker of the House John Boehner has now announced the election to replace him will be postponed.

UPDATE: McCarthy shared at a press conference that “We need a new face.”

When asked if his statement regarding the Benghazi investigation last week hurt his chances to become Speaker, he replied, “Well, it wasn’t helpful.”

Here’s the announcement:

Donald Trump Mocks Marco Rubio As “Little Boy”

Republican White House hopeful Donald Trump mocked Sen. Marco Rubio today when he tweeted the above graphic.

Text of the graphic:

Never Hire A Boy To Do A Man’s Job.

Marco Rubio seems like a nice boy. Well mannered but bought & paid for. JEB and the PACS sat him down and taught him all that fancy government stuff. “RINO RUBE” repeats it well! Good Boy”

But sorry, little “RUBE”. You just don’t have the swagger to negotiate with Vladimir Putin and…actually run a country.

Maybe one day when you’re all grown up but for now, a real man will do the job. Now drink your milk and eat your cookies. Nappy time!

With John Boehner Out As Speaker Of The House, Who’s Looking To Fill His Shoes?

First, there’s current House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy – the likely choice for Speaker of the House:

And then there’s Tea Party guy Daniel Webster:

The next few weeks should be fun.

President Obama Mocks GOP Candidates For Lagging On LGBT Rights

(AP Photo/Andrew Harnik)

Speaking at the National Democratic Committee’s LGBT Gala last night in New York City, President Obama mocked some of the current crop of Republican White House candidates who seem to be stuck in the past when it comes to same-sex marriage:

“One of their leading candidates argued that going to prison turns you gay,” he said, referring to neurosurgeon Ben Carson, who has recently surged in the polls. “Well, you think I’m — I shouldn’t go into this? No, I mean, I’m just stating the facts.”

“Another candidate boasts that he introduced an amendment to end nationwide marriage equality — which isn’t even an accomplishment at all. A third says Americans should just disobey the Supreme Court’s ruling entirely. I’m sure he loves the Constitution — except for Article III. And maybe the Equal Protection Amendment. And the 14th Amendment, generally.”

The President made a point of listing several advances in LGBT rights since he took office such as overturning the military’s ban on openly gay soldiers, his executive order banning workplace discrimination against LGBT individuals employed by the federal government and federal contractors, as well as this year’s Supreme Court’s ruling legalizing gay marriage nationwide.

Obama also chided the GOP world for their chants of “taking their country back.” Obama addressed the idea of “taking the country back” to 2008 before he was elected president:

“In their world, everything was terrific back in 2008 when we were in the midst of a spiral into the worst financial crisis and economic crisis since the Great Depression, when unemployment and uninsured rates were rising and when our economy was shedding jobs each month, and we were mired in two wars, hopelessly addicted to foreign oil, and bin Laden was still at large,” Obama said.

“Those were the Golden Years, apparently. And then, I came in and messed it all up.”

Introducing the President for the evening was lead plaintiff in the SCOTUS same-sex marriage case, Jim Obergefell.

Poll: Donald Trump And Ben Carson In Virtual Tie For GOP Nomination

A new NBC News/ Wall Street Journal poll shows Donald Trump and Dr. Ben Carson pretty much neck and neck in the current race for the GOP White House nomination.

Trump comes in with 21% of those polled with Carson right there at 20% – a virtual dead heat when you take in the margin of error.

Carly Fiorina and Sen. Marco Rubio coming in tied with 11% each on the heels of strong performances at the second GOP debate.

In the race for the Democratic nod, Hillary Clinton (42%) still leads Sen. Bernie Sanders (35%) by 7 points IF you factor in a possible Vice-President Joe Biden (17%) run. Remove Biden from the picture and her support jumps to 53% versus Sanders 38% – a 15 point lead.
