Zach Galifianakis interviews President Obama on “Between Two Ferns”

President Obama sat down with Zach Galifianakis on his Funny or Die web interview series “Between Two Ferns” to discuss signing up for the Affordable Care Act.

“Between Two Ferns” is one of the funniest and most successful ongoing video series on the internet. Each video averages approximately 6 million views.

In the video, Zach takes the interview a tad off-track as he brings up questions regarding sending Ambassador Rodman to North Korea,  Obama erecting his presidential library in Kenya, letting his son play football, who he rooted for in the Sochi Winter Olympics, and whether he’ll outlaw same-sex divorce. That was just the beginning of the barbs traded between Obama and Galifianakis.

Best line by President Obama: “I’ve seen episodes of this show before and some of those episodes have been a little bit better than this. For example, that one with Bradley Cooper? That was a great show.”

UPDATE: Within hours, the video has garnered over 5.4 million views and is reportedly the biggest driver of traffic to HealthCare.gov.

From The Hill:

White House spokesman Jay Carney said the White House wasn’t concerned that the comedy routine might have undermined the dignity of the office of the president.

“We obviously assess opportunities that we have and, you know, look at whether or not they’re going to be successful and wise,” Carney said. “And I think we made the right call here.”

Carney also said that Funny or Die, the website that hosts the faux-public access show “Between Two Ferns” featuring the “Hangover” star, was the No. 1 referral source to HealthCare.gov on Tuesday morning.

“The video itself was causing the action that we’d hoped it would cause, which is getting folks to go to HealthCare.gov and look at the options available to them and hopefully enroll,” Carney said.

Billy Eichner’s “Billy On The Street” is back

Got to admit this is funny.  There’s something very “Pee Wee Herman” about this.

The New York Times wrote about Billy Eichner’s “Billy On The Street:”

An oddly addictive comedy act wrapped in a game show, “Billy on the Street” takes place entirely outside and features a series of games like “Quizzed in the Face” and “Actress Potato Head.” Winners earn small amounts of cash or worse, an onerous prize, like computer paper. (The rapper Nas, a celebrity guest, won a bird cage, which he did not seem pleased about.) The heart of the show is the spectacle of the tall, gangly Mr. Eichner erupting in disappointed rage (“It’s Kat Dennings, you moron!”) or sharing a strange exchange with a passer-by.

“No one can do what he does,” said Joan Rivers, an early champion. “The only comparison is the first season of Ali G.” She added that a difference is that Mr. Eichner mixes sweetness with his insanity. “If you yell at an old lady for not knowing who Debra Messing is, no one gets hurt. She can still go shopping.”

Funny or Die: The First Gay Bachelor

From the minds of Funny Or Die comes a new spoof starring Jesse Tyler Ferguson as ABC’s first gay bachelor on the hunt to find a husband.

However, the script is flipped on Ferguson when he realizes the contestants have more interest in each other rather than him. Oh, the bitter sting of love lost and watching him propose to another guy.

Funny. This is probably exactly what it would be like….

Funny or Die: “Downton Diddy”

I LOVE Downton Abbey. I watched one episode and then lost that weekend watching every episode in a marathon.

The show recently announced the addition of it’s first black character. But P Diddy has proof he’s been there the whole series.

As I hit play, I wasn’t too sure about this new Funny or Die video, but it’s really well done and made me laugh.

Diddy teased the video with this tweet:

New Music: Richard Marx’s “Soundtrack for Self-Pleasure”

From Funny Or Die: “Romantic singer/songwriter Richard Marx puts a twist on some of his biggest hits with his new album Richard Marx’s Soundtrack for Self-Pleasure.”

I love that Richard Marx has such a great sense of humor. He handles this bit perfectly.

(no pun intended…)
