Fox News To Host Marriage Equality Debate Between Ted Olson And Tony Perkins

Tune in this Sunday at 10AM ET.

Both sides in the same-sex marriage debate are looking to the Supreme Court as it decides whether or not to weigh in on the issue. The High Court is set to discuss cases from Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee, and decide whether to rule on petitions challenging state bans on same-sex marriage.

We’ll debate what has become a key social issue within the country, exclusively with Ted Olson, former Solicitor General who served as Co-Counsel for the plaintiffs in Virginia’s same-sex marriage case, and Tony Perkins, President of the Family Research Council.

Gary Sinise and Fox News’ Bret Baier Cancel Appearance at “Gay Cure” Church

As Jeremy Hooper recently pointed out over at Good As You, Gary Sinise and Fox News anchor Bret Baier were recently announced to speak at a “summit” for a group that regards being gay as a “disorder” that can be cured.

Apparently, neither Sinise nor Baier were aware of the controversial stance until now.

From the Legatus website:

“It’s impossible to see homosexual unions as being in line with God’s intentions for marriage since the product of intercourse is not fruitful,” the group explains on its website. “Along with masturbation, fornication, and adultery, homosexuality is a selfish act that cannot fulfill the divinely ordained purpose of the reproductive powers.”

“The Church encourages people who suffer from the disorder of same-sex attraction to live a chaste and celibate life,” the group’s magazine continues.

A 2011 article in Legatus insisted that LGBT people could be cured.

“There are many reasons why people suffer from SSA disorder,” Legate John Haas wrote. “Fortunately there is hope for those who suffer from the disorder. The National Association for Research and Therapy of Homosexuality reports that significant numbers of homosexual persons have undergone treatment and had their sexual drives properly ordered.”

Gary Sinise announced his withdrawal on his website:

“For me, faith has been a catalyst for my mission to honor the men and women who serve in our nation’s military,” the statement noted. “When I accepted the invitation to speak at the Legatus conference about Veterans issues and share my story, I was unaware of the controversy surrounding some of the participants, and their views on personal matters.”

“I don’t want my mission—which is designed to be unifying—to be disrupted by these, or any controversies, and therefore have decided to withdraw.”

Fox News issued this statement on behalf of Bret Baier to Raw Story:

“Bret Baier has withdrawn his participation as a speaker at the upcoming Legatus Summit due to the controversy surrounding some editorial stances in the organization’s magazine,” a statement from Fox News said. “Bret accepted the invitation to speak about his book, his faith, and his son’s congenital heart disease. He was unaware of these articles or the controversy surrounding them.”

Fox News: Obama Wants To Take Your Sprinkles

Fox News loves to defend it’s far right leaning style of “reporting the news.” Many times I hear, the daytime shows on Fox News are all pure news, no commentary by the hosts.

Fox News spent over 3 minutes yesterday being upset over the FDA possibly regulating trans fats in foods. Not just “regulating” – but stoking the fires of the government stepping in and “making decisions” for you.

Completely out of whack.

Before the guest can even get to what he has to say on the subject, host Clayton Morris jumps in to TELL audiences what possibly banning sprinkles REALLY means for you:

Fox News host Clayton Morris told viewers on Tuesday that they would have to “say goodbye to your favorite sprinkled doughnut.”

“What it is also saying to people is, ‘You’re just not responsible, right?’” Morris opined. “If you can’t eat one of these every other day, and you know that you’re going to have some other health issues if you’re eating doughnuts, that’s the main part of your diet, that’s probably going to have some issues, what the government is saying is, ‘Look, you’re not responsible for your own health so we’re going to step in and make sure we’re going to be responsible for you.’”

“You know, there’s a tendency to look at this policy and say, ‘What’s the big deal? You know, a ban on sprinkles on donuts, it’s just not that big of deal,’” Lusk replied. “But I think the way you want to look at that is to say that, you know, if the government can involve itself in such small minutia decisions of our daily lives as to whether we want to eat sprinkles or not, you know, that’s really not much respect for the citizens’ choices.”

Fox News’ Megyn Kelly Calls Mike Huckabee “F*ckabee”

Fox News’ Megyn Kelly had a slip of the tongue Monday night as she introduced former Arkanasa governor Mike Huckabee:

“Joining me now, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, who is the host of Fucka– ah, Huckabee right here on the Fox News channel…”

Not sure if she was thinking “Fox” and “Huckabee” at the same time or what. But it sure got the inter webs going… 🙂

BREAKING: Hell Has Frozen Over As FOX News Correspondent Admits “Not Everything” is Obama’s Fault

You can imagine the heads snapping up to the monitors over at Fox News when Chief White House Correspondent, Ed Henry, chose to point out that EVERYTHING isn’t President Obama’s fault.

In this case, Henry was reporting on the current ISIS violence.

Bill O’Reilly wasn’t having it. Finally after a minute or two back and forth, O’Reilly gives in begrudgingly to say “not the whole thing” is the President’s fault.

Transcript:

O’Reilly: Turkey doesn’t fear the United States. Egypt doesn’t fear the United States. Pakistan certainly doesn’t fear us. Who fears us? Kuwait? Anyone?

Henry: We can add Putin to the list. I don’t think Putin fears us right now either. Where I would say you’re not giving the President credit though, is that there’s been about 200 air strikes in Iraq. Prevented a genocide in Northern Iraq, right? There were 10s of 1000s of…

O’Reilly: But he had to do that.

Henry: Okay, well he did it. Whether he had to do it or not, you just acknowledge he acted.

O’Reilly: Let me decimate your argument there.

Henry: Alright.

O’Reilly: If he had listened to me six months ago, ISIS never would have expanded into Iraq. We were calling for him to knock ISIS out six months ago when they weren’t nearly as strong. So you can say that the mountain and the humanitarian disaster is partly Mr. Obama’s fault because he didn’t listen to the CIA and he didn’t listen to guys like Panetta, who are now killing him. You know Panetta’s now killing him, right?

Henry: Sure and he said we should have left some troops behind in Iraq.

O’Reilly: Well, you can say well yeah, he prevented it, but it’s his fault he was even there to begin with. You can make that argument.

Henry: I’m not sure you can pin the whole thing on him.

O’Reilly: Not the whole thing.

Henry: Okay, right but if you listen to your talking points a moment ago, it’s basically like, “this is wrong, this is wrong, this is wrong, why isn’t Obama done more. I don’t think we can make that case. Not everything is his fault.

What happens at the Fox News HQ when this happens? Are there lashings scheduled? Does Ed Henry see his bathroom privileges revoked?

Jon Stewart on the Cognitive Dissonance of LatteSalute

On last night’s The Daily Show, Jon Stewart addressed the hypocrisy (shocker!) of the right wing media’s outrage over the recent “Latte Salute” incident involving President Obama and an inartful salute.

Among other things, Stewart points out that President Obama is not the first prez to have a sloppy salute moment. We’ve all seen the now-famous photo of President Bush saluting with his dog in his hands.  Nuff said…

And, Stewart contrasts Fox News pundit Eric Bollings’ statements “These people put their lives on the line for us. Show the respect” with his later quip in the very show when he dissed a female pilot performing air strikes in the Middle East saying “Would that be considered “boobs on the ground” or no?”

Stewart suffers no fools easily here. Watch below:

GOP US Senator: Some Of Fox News “Totally Not Fair And Totally Not Balanced”

As part of his farewell tour to the state, GOP Oklahoma Sen. Tom Coburn called some shows on Fox News “totally not fair and totally not balanced,” referencing the network’s “fair and balanced” slogan.

“The truth is somewhere in between the three,” Corbun said of MSNBC, CNN, and Fox News.

“There are certain shows on Fox I can’t watch,” Coburn said. “Because they’re totally not fair and totally not balanced. I want all the information if which I can make the best decision.”

The senator is retiring this year in part due to a recurrence of prostate cancer.

Coburn was responding to a question about how he would “fix” media to focus on less superficial things if he was in charge of it. He said he also reads the New York Times and Wall Street Journal saying “the real problem is we’ve lost the professionalism of journalism.”

Fox News’ Shep Smith calls Robin Williams a “coward” for committing suicide

As the world mourns the loss of Academy Award winner Robin Williams, Fox News anchor Shep Smith decided to vilify the man by calling him a “coward” in committing suicide.

Fox News host Shepard Smith on Tuesday asserted that actor Robin Williams was “such a coward” for allegedly committing suicide. “One of the children he so loved, one of the children grieving tonight,” Smith said. “Because their father killed himself in a fit of depression.” “It’s hard to imagine, isn’t it?” he continued.

“You could love three little things so much, watch them grow, they’re in their mid-20s, and they’re inspiring you, and exciting you, and they fill you up with the kind of joy you could never have known.”

“And yet, something inside you is so horrible or you’re such a coward or whatever the reason that you decide that you have to end it. Robin Williams, at 63, did that today.”

I should note that Shep Smith has been rumored to be a gay man for years but can’t seem to find the “courage” to come out.

Talk about a “coward.”
