Donald Trump Claims “Thousands” Cheered In New Jersey On 9/11

Speaking at a campaign rally in Birmingham, Alabama on Saturday, Donald Trump made the ridiculous claim that he saw “thousands” cheer in New Jersey on 9/11: “I watched when the World Trade Center came tumbling down, and I watched in Jersey City, New Jersey where thousands and thousands of people were cheering as that building was coming down,” he said.

Trump doubled down on that assertion today on ABC This Week:

On Sunday, in an interview with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos, Trump reiterated his claim. “There were people that were cheering on the other side of New Jersey where you have large Arab populations, he said. “There were people over in New Jersey that were watching it, a heavy Arab population that were cheering as the buildings came down. Not good.”

“I know it might be not politically correct for you to talk about it, but there were people cheering as that building came down,” Trump said Sunday. “That tells you something.”

“It was well covered at the time, George. Now, I know they don’t like to talk about it, but it was well covered at the time.”

Actually, it wasn’t: according to both the Associated Press and the New York Times, there are no accounts of such demonstrations taking place in contemporary news reports.

UPDATED: Donald Trump Favors Implementing Database To Track American Muslims

Yesterday, in an interview with Yahoo News, Donald Trump said he favors increased surveillance of American Muslims, forcing them to carry special I.D. cards, and implementing a database that would track those citizens.

“We’re going to have to do things that we never did before. And some people are going to be upset about it, but I think that now everybody is feeling that security is going to rule,” Trump said. “And certain things will be done that we never thought would happen in this country in terms of information and learning about the enemy. And so we’re going to have to do certain things that were frankly unthinkable a year ago.”

Yahoo News asked Trump whether this level of tracking might require registering Muslims in a database or giving them a form of special identification that noted their religion. He wouldn’t rule it out.

“We’re going to have to — we’re going to have to look at a lot of things very closely,” Trump said when presented with the idea. “We’re going to have to look at the mosques. We’re going to have to look very, very carefully.”

UPDATE: Now, Trump says he never endorsed use of a Muslim-tracking database. Except, he did. Check the video above at the :20 mark – “Oh, I would certainly implement that.”

Donald Trump Goes After Ben Carson Over “Stabbing” Incident

Donald Trump asks “How stupid are the people of Iowa?” as he ranted and railed against the now infamous “stabbing incident” Dr. Ben Carson described in his biography.

From CNN:

Donald Trump on Thursday told Iowa’s voters that those who support Ben Carson are “stupid” to believe the “crap” that is his life story, part of a stunning 95-minute tirade that included his most aggressive attack yet on his closest competitor.

Toward the end of his wide-ranging complaints about the country and competition, Trump mocked Carson’s narrative about his violent temper as a youth that was calmed only when he prayed to God and asked for deliverance, an event that Carson describes as a miracle. That story of redemption has underpinned much of Carson’s support in the Hawkeye State.

Apparently, the rant went on for over an hour.

We were all wondering how long it would take for Trump to begin attacking Carson now that the good doctor has overtaken Trump in several polls.

Donald Trump’s SNL Opening Monologue

Via Entertainment Weekly:

The website DeportRacism.com owes Larry David $5,000. During Donald Trump’s opening monologue on Saturday Night Live, David shouted “Trump’s a racist,” a phrase the political action committee said would net its speaker a cash bounty if spoken during the broadcast. “Trump’s a racist,” David said at the end of Trump’s opening, before adding, “I heard if I yelled that, they’d give me $5,000.” “As a businessman, I can respect that,” Trump said in response. Following the joke, DeportRacism.com praised David for saying the line, and noted that it would pay him the cash reward. “Joke or not, it was true. Go Larry!” the PAC wrote on Twitter.

Trump’s appearance as host of SNL was met with protests from several Latino groups, including The Hispanic Federation, the Labor Council for Latin American Advancement (LCLAA), and the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC). Before the broadcast on Saturday night, protestors marched from Trump Tower to 30 Rockefeller Center, home of Saturday Night Live, with more than 577,000 petitions calling for NBC to drop Trump from the show because of his previous comments on Mexican immigrants.

Donald Trump Picks A Fight On CNN Over Network’s “Incompetent” Coverage

Donald Trump, speaking with CNN’s Chris Cuomo this morning, had a virtual meltdown over his media coverage as he sees his poll numbers dropping to number two as Dr. Ben Carson’s numbers rise.

From The Hill:

Moments into his more than 20-minute interview on CNN’s “New Day,” Trump offered a broadside against a CNN reporter who covered his book signing in New York the previous day.

“Sara Murray didn’t report it very well because she never flips the camera to show the lines. I think she’s absolutely terrible, your reporter,” Trump told host Chris Cuomo.

“Either she’s a very unemotional person or she’s not a very good reporter,” Trump continued, adding later, “Maybe she’s a low-key individual and doesn’t believe in showing the crowds.”

“I don’t know if that’s because she is incompetent, or she doesn’t like me or maybe she’s given instructions from up above. Who knows. I don’t really care,” Trump said.

New National Poll Shows Ben Carson Leading Donald Trump For GOP Nomination

A new Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll shows retired Dr. Ben Carson is leading former front runner Donald Trump of the Republican presidential nomination.

The new survey shows Carson getting 29% support versus Trump’s 23%.

Sen. Marco Rubio clocked in at 11%, Sen. Ted Cruz at 10% and former Florida governor Jeb Bush 8%.

This is the second national poll indicating Carson now leads the race.

Stay tuned for The Donald’s soon-to-come Twitter rant about how wrong the poll is.
