Donald Trump: Every Dress Shop In DC Is Sold Out For The Inauguration

Speaking to the New York Times about Meryl Streep’s Golden Globes speech last night, Donald Trump boasted that his inauguration will be “record-setting” in numbers. In fact, according to Trump, there are no formal gowns to be had anywhere in Washington for the big event.

From the New York Times:

“We are going to have an unbelievable, perhaps record-setting turnout for the inauguration, and there will be plenty of movie and entertainment stars,” Mr. Trump said. “All the dress shops are sold out in Washington. It’s hard to find a great dress for this inauguration.”

The Washington Post decided to fact-check whether or not that claim was true.

And of course, it ends up being a lie.

Definitely not, said Martha Slagle, vice president and general manager of the Neiman Marcus in Friendship Heights. If a ball attendee were to walk in today, “you have more than a thousand evening gowns to choose from,” she said, noting that the store stocks up every four years in anticipation of inauguration demand. Classic black? Got ’em. Colorful garments? Yep, those, too — plus furs and wraps and evening coats for the notoriously chilly January nights, she said.

Slagle actually laughed when we mentioned Trump’s claim about the status of Washington’s dress options. “I’m stuffed with beautiful gowns,” she said. Even the city’s smaller boutiques still have plenty of stock. “We always have dresses,” said Krista Johnson, the owner of Georgetown designer-consignment shop Ella Rue. “Unless a thousand people came in today, we’d still have choices.” Johnson said her racks include everything from on-trend formal rompers to runway pieces, from labels like Oscar de la Renta, Alexis and Moschino.

Why this guy has to exaggerate every single thing that comes out of his mouth, I have no idea.

Donald Trump Slaps Back At Meryl “Over-Rated” Streep For Golden Globes Speech

Well, this didn’t take long.

President-elect Donald J. Trump dismissed Meryl Streep as “a Hillary lover” early Monday morning after the actress, in a speech at the Golden Globes award ceremony, denounced him as a bully who disrespected and humiliated others.

Mr. Trump, in a brief telephone interview, said he had not seen Ms. Streep’s remarks or other parts of the Globes ceremony, which were broadcast on NBC, but he added that he was “not surprised” that he had come under attack from “liberal movie people.”

While anti-Trump comments at the Globes were relatively restrained, Ms. Streep, one of the most outspoken progressives in the film world, mounted a powerful critique of Mr. Trump’s abilities as a performer, complimenting in a backhanded way a style of showmanship that she all but called insidious.

“There was one performance this year that stunned me — it sank its hooks in my heart,” Ms. Streep said. “Not because it was good; there was nothing good about it. But it was effective and it did its job. It made its intended audience laugh, and show their teeth.

“It was that moment when the person asking to sit in the most respected seat in our country imitated a disabled reporter,” she said, referring to a speech by Mr. Trump in 2015 when he shuddered and flailed his arms, seeming to mock a disabled reporter for The New York Times. “It kind of broke my heart when I saw it, and I still can’t get it out of my head, because it wasn’t in a movie. It was real life.”

Of course, Trump still denies that he was mocking the reporter, when it’s clear that’s exactly what he was doing. Not only did he use physical movements to mimic the reporter, these were movements we had never seen Trump use before.

p.s. calling Meryl Streep “one of the most over-rated actresses in Hollywood” is so off the mark it borders on parody. You’ll note she was accepting  the Cecil B. DeMille Lifetime Achievement Award for her incredible body of work.

Meryl Streep Delivers Epic Takedown Of Donald Trump Without Ever Mentioning His Name

Honored with the prestigious Cecil B. Demille Award tonight at the Golden Globe Awards, Meryl Streep took to the stage admitting she had lost her voice, then went on to say everything that needed to be said.

Along the way, she delivered an epic takedown of our incoming Cheeto-in-chief.

Then, she asked, “Who are we? And What is Hollywood anyway? It’s just a bunch of people from other places. I was born and raised and educated in the public schools of New Jersey. Viola (Davis) was born in a share-croppers cabin in South Carolina,” and mentioned several other actors’ and actresses backgrounds, before asking, “Where are their birth certificates?” She added, “If you kick them all out, you’ll have nothing to watch except for football and mixed martial arts, which are not the arts.”

She said there were “many powerful performances this year,” but there was one that “stunned” her and “sank its hooks in [her] heart. Not because it was good. There was nothing good about it. But it was effective, and it did its job. It made its intended audience laugh and show their teeth. It was that moment when the person asking to sit in the most respected seat in our country imitated a disabled reporter- someone he outranked in privilege, power, and the capacity to fight back. It kind of broke my heart,” she said, becoming emotional.

“When the powerful use their position to bully others,” she said, “we all lose.”

She then addressed the press, saying “we need the principled press to hold power to account,” and called on the “famously well-heeled Hollywood Foreign Press” to support the Committee to Protect Journalists. “We’re going to need them,” she said, “and they’ll need us to safeguard the truth.”

She concluded by sharing something Carrie Fisher once told her: “Take your broken heart, make it into art.”

Maddow: Donald Trump Lied About Intelligence Report Concluding “No Effect” On Election

Immediately after Donald Trump came out of his classified intelligence briefing on Putin’s Russian cyber-hacking of the DNC, he falsely claimed the report ‘concluded’ the hacking did not have any effect on the election & that it found the Russian hackers were ‘unable’ to hack the RNC!

Both of those claims were utterly false & deliberate LIES! Donald has no idea what the truth or facts are.

Trump: Intelligence Briefing “Constructive” But Still Has Questions

While it appears that Trump did listen, his main talking point after today’s intelligence briefing seems to be doubling down on the fact that he won the presidency on his own, with no help from Russia.

From USA Today:

President-elect Donald Trump said he had a “constructive” meeting with intelligence officials on Friday, and while praising them still had questions about assertions that Russia hacked Democrats in an effort to influence last year’s election.

Claiming that Russia, China, and other countries and organizations are always launching cyber-attacks against the United States — “including the Democratic National Committee” — Trump said in a written statement that “there was absolutely no effect on the outcome of the election including the fact that there was no tampering whatsoever with voting machines.”

He added: “There were attempts to hack the Republican National Committee, but the RNC had strong hacking defenses and the hackers were unsuccessful.”

While criticizing aspects of the Russia investigation just hours before a special briefing, Trump said in his statement that
“I have tremendous respect for the work and service done by the men and women of this (intelligence) community to our great nation.”

Saying all Americans need to “aggressively combat and stop cyber-attacks,” Trump said that as president he would appoint a team to develop a new defense plan.

“The methods, tools and tactics we use to keep America safe should not be a public discussion that will benefit those who seek to do us harm,” the president-elect added. “Two weeks from today I will take the oath of office and America’s safety and security will be my number one priority.”

Before his high-profile briefing at Trump Tower, the president-elect also announced he has asked Congress to investigate what he believes to be the leak of a secret intelligence report on the Russians to the news media. He tweeted: “I am asking the chairs of the House and Senate committees to investigate top secret intelligence shared with NBC prior to me seeing it.”

Trump has also protested news coverage on Thursday night, tweeting: “How did NBC get ‘an exclusive look into the top secret report he (Obama) was presented?’ Who gave them this report and why? Politics!”

The president-elect had a nearly two-hour briefing that included Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, CIA Director John Brennan and FBI Director James Comey, all of whom have cited evidence pointing to a Russian plan to hack Democrats backing Clinton, perhaps in an effort to aid Trump.

Trump Trash Tweets Schwarzenegger Over APPRENTICE Ratings

With nothing to do in his early morning hours (but get ready to become leader of the free world), President-elect Trump chose to take some “me time” to poke at Arnold Schwarzenegger for the low ratings on the premiere of The Apprentice, which Arnold now stars in.

Of course, what the Trumpster left out of his classy call-out is that his own ratings had slid mightily from season 1 (18.5 million) when reality TV was still new, to his last season with a much lower viewership  on it’s season premiere (6.5 million).

Obviously, ego trumps money in The Donald’s world, since he’s still an executive producer for the show and making money off the series. So, mocking his own star is pretty much cutting off his nose to spite his orange face.

But not to worry, Arnold took the high road and gave a class in “class:”

Kellyanne Conway: I’m Not Going To Admit Russia Helped My Boss, So Stop Asking Me To!

Because in politics, you never admit – you deflect.

“I’ll ask you a third time!” Cuomo said at one point about the October joint report from the Homeland Security Department and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence: did the intelligence community announce its findings of Russian involvement, yes or no?

What transpired was an (at times) infuriating battle between a fast-talking New Yorker and an equally abrasively stubborn and witty woman from New Jersey, both also aided by legal backgrounds. “Chris, I see you’re very passionate about this,” Conway said.

“Sure I am. Russia trying to hack during our election, being ignored by our President-elect? That’s troubling,” Cuomo shot back. Remarkably, Conway responded. “Right. No it’s not.” She furthered at one point, “You just want to argue with me.”

“You’re ducking the obvious,” he said, “and I don’t know why.” At one point, when the New Day anchor alleged that Trump was “sheltering Russia,” Conway defiantly shot back, “Don’t you say that again.”

Trump Now Says Mexico Will Pay For Border Wall “Later”

Although we heard endless chants of “Who’s gonna pay for the wall? Mexico!” throughout the campaign at every single rally, President-elect Trump now would like to build “the wall” now and bill Mexico “later.”

And somehow it’s the media’s fault.

Donald Trump’s transition team has approached leading House Republicans to let them know the president-elect prefers to have Congress pay for the wall along the U.S.-Mexico border, House GOP officials told CNN Thursday. On Friday morning, Trump tweeted that “any money spent on building the Great Wall (for sake of speed), will be paid back by Mexico later!” — blaming the “dishonest media” for failing to report that.

Throughout his campaign, Trump emphatically promised that he would force Mexico to pay for the border wall, but now the transition team is telling Republicans in private meetings that he wants to fund it through the appropriations process, the officials said. The GOP could add billions of dollars to the spending bill that must be passed by April 28 in order to keep the government open.

Interestingly, Trump deleted his first tweet and then tweeted this, adding the word “later.”

BREAKING: U.S. Intelligence Report Shows Russia Officials Celebrated Trump Win

Details of the upcoming report from U.S. intelligence agencies on Russia’s cyber hacking during the presidential campaign were leaked this afternoon, and among the results are the fact that Russian operatives celebrated Donald Trump’s win

The Washington Post reports:

Senior officials in the Russian government celebrated Donald Trump’s victory over Hillary Clinton as a geopolitical win for Moscow, according to U.S. officials who said that American intelligence agencies intercepted communications in the aftermath of the election in which Russian officials congratulated themselves on the outcome.

The ebullient reaction among high-ranking Russian officials — including some who U.S. officials believe had knowledge of the country’s cyber campaign to interfere in the U.S. election — contributed to the U.S. intelligence community’s assessment that Moscow’s efforts were aimed at least in part at helping Trump win the White House.

Other key pieces of information gathered by U.S. spy agencies include the identification of “actors” involved in delivering stolen Democratic emails to the WikiLeaks website, and disparities in the levels of effort Russian intelligence entities devoted to penetrating and exploiting sensitive information stored on Democratic and Republican campaign networks.

Those and other data points are at the heart of an unprecedented intelligence report being circulated in Washington this week that details the evidence of Russian interference in the 2016 presidential campaign and catalogues other cyber operations by Moscow against U.S. election systems over the past nine years.

Russia’s initial objective may have been merely to meddle and undermine the legitimacy of an assumed Clinton victory. But as Trump captured the GOP nomination and showed that he could remain competitive with Clinton, Russia’s aims became more ambitious, officials said. The final months of the race saw a steady stream of leaked emails that damaged Clinton’s candidacy, without any corresponding release to embarrass Trump.

The report also includes U.S. intelligence officials’ conclusion that Putin held a grudge against Hillary Clinton for years, which they cite as motivation for undermining her campaign.

Additionally, the report indicates that Russia used social media and “fake news” platforms as an “accelerant” to help Trump in his quest for the White House.
