Trump Worries In Twitter Rant: “Attorney-Client Privilege Is Dead!”

Donald Trump was still in Twitter-rant mode this morning as he continued to rail about yesterday’s raid by the FBI on his personal lawyer’s office, home and hotel room.

Declarations of “Attorney–client privilege is dead!” and “A TOTAL WITCH HUNT!!!” flew from the Trumpster’s fingers even as the Twitterverse pointed out that attorney/client privilege does have limits.

If there’s evidence his lawyer, Michael Cohen, was aiding Trump in committing fraud, in the area of campaign finance for instance, attorney/client privilege becomes null and void.

It’s possible Trump had no idea that there are limits to attorney/client privilege.

Additionally, as I mentioned yesterday in my report on the raids, it is rare for the FBI to execute a search warrant on an attorney. For the FBI to have taken such extreme steps means they probably expected Cohen to be considering destroying evidence, but also had to convince a magistrate of that via hard evidence.

Plus, while Trump would like to believe this is all a partisan attack, folks were quick to point out that  the top decision-makers who have been involved in the ongoing Trump investigations have all been Republicans.

Trump Threatens “Big Price To Pay” For Syrian Chemical Attack

For the first time in his presidency, Donald Trump called out Russian President Vladimir Putin in connection to a chemical gas attack in Syria that killed at least 70 dead and more injured.

From The New York Times:

President Trump on Sunday promised a “big price” to be paid for what he said was a chemical weapons attack that choked dozens of Syrians to death the day before, and a top White House official said the administration would not rule out a missile strike to retaliate against the government of President Bashar al-Assad.

In a tweet, Mr. Trump laid the blame for the attack partly on President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia, the first time since his election that he has criticized the Russian leader by name on Twitter. Mr. Putin’s forces have been fighting for years to keep the Assad government in power amid Syria’s brutal civil war.

Mr. Trump also left no doubt that he believed the assessment of aid groups that Mr. Assad’s military had used chemical weapons to inflict the carnage on Saturday in Douma, a rebel-held suburb of Damascus.

The Times goes on to report that the White House has not ruled out a missile strike response among options available to the U.S.

The United Nations Security Council has announced it will hold emergency meeting Monday in light of the chemical attack.

According to reports, Trump has been mulling over pulling all U.S. military out of Syria. Observers are now curious to see if the Donald follows through on that considering these developments.

And, of course, war hawk Sen. Lindsey Graham wants to go to war so bad:

SNL’s Trump: “I. Do. Not. Care. About. Any. Of. You.”

For last night’s cold open on Saturday Night Live, President Donald Trump (Alec Baldwin) holds a press conference with the leaders of the Baltic states (Kate McKinnon, Alex Moffat, Heidi Gardner).

Brash and unfiltered, “Trump” reveled in his newly invigorated freedom to speak his mind.

Along the way, he ignores memos from staff to not congratulate Vladimir Putin for his “very transparent” reelection in Russia, and even ignores the voices in his head to not mock McKinnon’s hair.

When asked by the press if his tariffs could ruin the U.S. economy and immigration policy tarnishing our standing in the world, Baldwin’s response is refreshingly candid:

“I. Do. Not. Care. About. America. This whole presidency is a four-year cash grab. And that will probably get me four more years.”

Funny in its outrageousness, and probably a lot closer to the truth than most would like to admit.

Trump: National Guard Will “Seal” The Southern Border

Trump took to Twitter today to tout his plan to have National Guard troops head to the U.S.-Mexico border to help with border security.

From Politico:

On Friday, the first wave of troops left Arizona and Texas en route to their deployment.

As he has in the past, Trump slammed Democrats for not being tougher on immigration, but his plan to send troops to the border mirrors similar actions by then-Presidents Barack Obama and George W. Bush.

Trump tweeted, “We are sealing up our Southern Border. The people of our great country want Safety and Security. The Dems have been a disaster on this very important issue!”

The move begs the question: If the National Guard can “seal” the southern border, why do we need to build a $40 billion wall?

Trump Takes His Best Poll Numbers And Inflates Them At Will

In TrumpLand, The Donald is always very popular. Whether he actually is or not, he is.

Got it?

So, when the Trumpster gets on the subject of polls, he not only quotes the one most favorable to him, he’s now inflating those numbers at will.

From The Washington Post:

This morning, in a radio interview, Trump went even further in extolling Rasmussen polling, claiming that, if anything, it is underestimating his popularity. It would be easy to laugh this off as the usual bluster, but if Trump really believes this, it could have real consequences for the country, particularly in the context of his brewing trade war with China.

In today’s interview with “Bernie and Sid in the Morning” on WABC radio, Trump listened modestly as his hosts showered obsequious praise on him for heroically making America great in the face of unremitting hate from the media.

“A poll just came out now, Rasmussen, it’s now 51,” Trump said. “They say that it’s 51 but add another 7 or 8 points to it. … They don’t want to talk about it, but when they get into the booth they’re going to vote for Trump.”

Then Trump was asked about trade and China. “I’m not saying there won’t be a little pain,” Trump said, adding: “We may take a hit, and you know what? Ultimately we’re going to be much stronger for it, but it’s something we have to do.”

This juxtaposition is disconcerting. If this trade war goes south, and the public rejects it, will Trump even know or believe that is happening?

The latest Daily Presidential Tracking poll from Rasmussen shows Trump with 47% approval, 52% disapproval.

Real Clear Politics shows Trump with an average approval rating (including Rasmussen’s latest) of 41.5%.

He’s literally making stuff up now.

Trump Will Skip White House Correspondents Dinner For 2nd Year In A Row

For the second year in a row, Donald Trump will skip the annual White House Correspondents Dinner.

The long-standing event, begun in 1921, serves to celebrate the First Amendment, fund scholarships for gifted students in college journalism programs and honor excellence in journalism.

“I sort of feel like the press so bad, it’s so fake, it’s so made up,” Trump said in an interview with WABC radio in New York Friday morning. “So I just think I want to get it straightened out with the press before I do it.”

The dinner has been attended annually by every president for 37 years. The last president to miss the event was Ronald Reagan, who was, understandably, recovering from an assassination attempt in 1981.

The fact is a regular ritual of the dinner is the president standing making several minutes of remarks in jest.

Many say the Trumpster is afraid he would bomb in the humor department. He also, apparently, does not care to spend an evening with those he vilifies on a regular basis on Twitter.

Stormy Daniels’ Lawyer: Stormy Can Describe Trump’s Junk In Great Detail

Megyn Kelly TODAY spoke with Stormy Daniels’ attorney, Michael Avenatti, who is currently pushing for the case to receive a public hearing rather than be heard behind closed doors, as President Trump’s attorneys are asking.

Avenatti says his position is that the non-disclosure agreement Daniels signed “is null and void and she’s free to speak,” and adds that there’s “a lot more” to her story.

“When she sat for that interview, it actually lasted over two hours in length. The portion that the American public saw was only about 14 or 16 minutes. CBS, they’re a conservative network. There’s a lot of information that was said that did not make it into the final piece. For instance, she can describe the president’s genitalia in great detail. That did not make it into the piece.”

Confident, clear and concise about his points, I find Avenatti to be very compelling.

And then there’s the fact that he’s hot AF.

In what appears to be the first direct statement from Donald Trump regarding the ongoing Stormy Daniels “affair” debacle, Donald Trump told reporters onboard Air Force One today that he did not know about the $130,000 payment made to Stormy Daniels by his lawyer, Michael Cohen.

From CNN’s Jeff Zeleny: “President Trump says he did not know about the $130,000 payment to Stormy Daniels. Asked why Cohen made payment, Trump said: ‘You have to ask Michael Cohen. Michael Cohen is my attorney you’ll have to ask him.’ Trump adds he did not know where Cohen got money.”
