Avengers Assemble for dying fan’s wish

Chris Evans (“Captain America”)

Stratford Caldecott, dying from prostate cancer, had a last dying wish – one that became one of the greatest superhero gifts ever.

Stratford, a big Marvel comics fan, wanted to live long enough to be able to see The Avengers: Age Of Ultron. So his daughter Sophie, with nothing to lose, posted the following request on her personal blog:

“We’re going to try and get in touch with Marvel to ask if they can fulfill dad’s dying wish by sending us a copy of the film for him to watch at home. But I think we can go further than that. We’re also going to tweet the Avengers actors and see if they will take a picture of themselves holding a sign saying ‘Captain America/Thor/Iron Man [insert name of character here] for Strat!’ so that we can surprise him with their messages of support and encouragement.”

So what happens next?

Shortly thereafter, a Marvel executive arrived at her door, followed by Captain America: The Winter Soldier screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely with a promise to deliver a copy of the movie to her dad.

But – it gets better. Look below…

Heroes do sometimes appear in the nick of time.

Chris Hemsworth on how a shirtless scene got into Thor movie

It turns out that Chris Hemsworth, the very Thunder God himself, has a shirtless scene near the beginning of the upcoming “Thor: The Dark World.” Why?

The better question: why not?

MTV reports:

Though it could have been confused as pure fangirl service, the scene was actually the brainchild of Marvel consigliere Joss Whedon, who thought the movie was missing a little something special.

“That [scene] kind of came from Joss actually. He just said that there needed to be something romantic in there,” Hemsworth said. “Then he said, ‘Chris, get your shirt off.’ I said, ‘Well, I don’t know. What’s the why? What are we doing?’ The justification was that it was him coming home from battle, washing blood off his hands. It is what it is. How to weigh into that without sounding like an idiot?”

“Thor: The Dark World” sees its release on November 8th.

Avengers movie to be released on DVD this coming Tuesday

Who’s excited about the release of the Avengers movie on DVD this coming Tuesday?

Make you sure pre-order now so it’s conveniently delivered to your home and all you have to do is pop in the video machine-y thing and enjoy Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner and Robert Downey Jr. save the world.

I loved the movie this summer.  I thought it had just the right balance of action and humor.  Loved the dialogue between the heroes.  And they’re not hard to look at either.

My copy in on the way! Love Amazon shopping.  It’s like gifts just show up at the door 🙂

Chris Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson in “Red Dawn” remake

This will be a hit. Just watch.

Red hot Chris Hemsworth (“Avengers”) and Josh Hutcherson (“Hunger Games”), along with one of my favorite actors Jeffrey Dean Morgan, star in this remake of the 1984 original.

Like the original movie, the plot revolves around a group of high schoolers who defend themselves against an invasion — only this time it’s North Korea infiltrating a small town, not the Soviets.

The movie opens November 21.

Chris Hemsworth in OUT Magazine

This year, Chris Hemsworth will open two summer blockbusters: reprising the thunder god in Whedon’s The Avengers — alongside a dizzying cast of costars (such as Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, and Chris Evans) — and starring in a darkly gothic fairytale retelling, Snow White and the Huntsman.

Chris talks about the movies and his ascension to the Hollywood elite in a new interview with OUT Magazine.

Oh, and he took some new pics too 🙂
