Cher AND Cyndi Lauper in concert at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas

Cher performs her biggest hits at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on the Dressed To Kill Tour 2014
This is what a star looks like

Michael and I hit the MGM Grand Garden Arena Sunday night in Las Vegas with friends Chad, Christian, Greg and Ryan for the packed concert event that was Cher – WITH Cyndi Lauper as her opening act!

Fantastic show as both artists gave their audience exactly what we came for.  Cyndi and Cher both were in terrific voice.   And brought with them the rock personas we’ve all come to know 🙂

Near the end of her set, Cyndi launched into a powerful rendition of “At Last” that killed.  At one point, she made her way into the crowd to talk about her Broadway hit musical “Kinky Boots” and sang an acapella version of “Not My Father’s Son” from the show before singing a full concert version of “Sex Is In The Heel.”

Cher sang a terrific “duet” of “I Got You Babe” with her ex husband Sonny Bono via video clips; stopped the Arena cold with her “Walking In Memphis,” “Turn Back Time,” “Woman’s World” and “Believe;”  and closed the night flying over the audience with “I Hope You Find It.”  And yes, Miss Cher gave you “costumes” as only she does.

If the concert comes to your town, GO!  Tour dates here.

Cher accepting 2013 Attitude Award – “Judy Garland’s got nothing on me”

In accepting the 2013 Legend Award from from the UK’s Attitude magazine over the weekend, Cher joked that “of course” the first gay men she knew were hairdressers when she was a child and her mother had them over, adding that she didn’t know what “gay” meant at the time – “In the beginning, I actually thought that ‘gay’ was code for ‘fun’.”

She also added why she thinks gay men love her and other female icons: “Gay men especially…they either love you or they don’t even notice that you’re on the planet. And I think what they like — I think what you guys like — is you like a strong woman that’s having a breakdown constantly, and that certainly is me. Judy Garland’s got nothing on me.”

Cher says “no” to Sochi Olympics over Russian anti-gay laws

The LGBT community’s diva stands with us.  Cher passes on opening the Sochi 2014 Winter Games:

“I can’t name names but my friend called who is a big oligarch over there, and asked me if I’d like to be an ambassador for the Olympics and open the show. I immediately said no. I want to know why all of this gay hate just exploded over there. He said the Russian people don’t feel the way the government does.”

Cher to mentor Blake Shelton’s THE VOICE team this season

Blake Shelton & Cher at the Season 4 finale [photo: NBC]

THE VOICE has nabbed a huge coup in having the one and only Cher participate in the reality talent show as the mentor for Blake Shelton’s team.  From Yahoo Music:

Blake Shelton has as big and brash a personality as Cher’s, so this pairing should be a fun one. It should also be quite emotional for Blake. Backstage at last season’s “Voice” finale, Blake surprisingly revealed to Reality Rocks: “I lost my dad a year and a half ago. And my dad’s favorite artist on earth, bar none, no question, was Cher. My dad worshipped Cher. I wish he could have seen tonight’s episode, because I would’ve been texting him saying, ‘Hey, I met Cher! I took a picture with Cher!’…She has no idea about any of that, but it was a real big deal to meet her…she’s just as viable and important to music today as she ever was.”

Cher’s appearances will begin during the Battle Rounds commencing October 14.

Anderson Cooper pokes fun at himself for his Cher “fanboy” behavior

Anderson Cooper uses the “Ridiculist” to poke fun at himself for his total “fanboy” behavior with Cher on Andy Cohen’s “Watch What Happens Live.”

Best line: “You try keeping a 46 year-old gay man away from Cher.”

It’s actually charming that he gets all googly about the diva. I’ve done it myself and it’s usually when I least expect it. It just happens to us.

And then, there’s his coworkers who came up with a nifty graphic of Anderson doing his best Cher impersonation…
