Some news items you might have missed: • The Advocate: A new GLAAD-Ipsos survey shows 70% of Americans say that knowing a company offers LGBTQ Pride merchandise either positively affects or does not impact their purchasing decisions. • LGBTQ Nation: Straight ally John Piermatteo brings a sign to Pride events that says “Play Catch With a Dad,” inviting people to do just that. He’s has now taken his heartwarming trend to other Pride celebrations, helping LGBTQ people heal from trauma from their families of origin. Netflix lost 200,000 subscribers in the first quarter of 2022 Some news items you might have missed: • Axios: Netflix’s stock sunk more than 20% in after-hours trading Tuesday after the streaming giant said it lost 200,000 subscribers in the first quarter — its first subscriber loss in a decade.

• Out: Bob the Drag Queen won’t be walking purse first into the RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 7 werkroom because she never got invited to be on this special “all-winners” season. • Variety: Ezra Miller has been arrested for second-degree assault in Hawaii, less than four weeks after the “Flash” and “Fantastic Beasts” star was arrested for disorderly conduct and harassment.

• Florida Politics: Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida is ticked off at Disney for criticizing his “Don’t Say Gay” legislation. So now he’s having a special session of the state lawmakers “take a look” at Disney World’s self-government deal that’s been in place for decades. • HuffPost: Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) “would really love” to run against Donald Trump for president in 2024. “Even if he crushed me, like in a primary, to be able to stand up and call out the garbage is just a necessary thing, regardless of who it is. I think it’d be fun.”

• Raw Story: A former aide to Trump-loving Rep. Madison Cawthorn (R-NC) is filing a brutal employment-related complaint against Cawthorn describing him as a “bad person” and “habitual liar” who’s “going to say and do anything he can to your face but behind your back he’s completely opposite.” • Good Morning Britain: Millionaire businessman Andrey Stavnitser saw from his home’s webcams that Russian soldiers were deploying equipment from the expansive mansion, so he gave the location co-ordinates to the Ukraine military and told them to bomb the home. https://youtu.be/AWzk_nURvCc

Get Ready, Small Town USA – The Queens Are Coming!

Get ready, small-town America – the queens are coming! HBO Network has announced a new unscripted TV series titled We’re Here starring RuPaul’s Drag Race alumni Bob the Drag Queen, Eureka O’Hara, and Shangela. Over six episodes, the trio of RPDR royalty will travel to small towns across the country with the goal of “empowering local communities with the magic of drag.” Each installment of the series will feature a different town where locals will be recruited to participate in a one-night-only drag show. The three queens will work to inspire their ‘drag daughters’ to step out of their comfort zone. We’re getting a Queer Eye / To Wong Foo vibe here… Creator and executive producer Johnnie Ingram says, “We’re bringing the art of drag into small-town America in an effort to make connections in unexpected places.” “Drag is about confidence and self-expression,” says Nina Rosenstein, EVP, HBO programming in a statement. “We are so thrilled to showcase the transformative power of the art form with our audience.” All three queens will contribute as consulting producers on the series with Ingram and co-creator/executive producer Stephen Warren. Las Vegas – Come Get Your Pride On Today!

Hey Las Vegas! Time to get your Pride on! Michael and I are heading down to take part in the Las Vegas Pride Festival today, so come on down and join in the festivities. This year’s Pride weekend began with the Pride Night Parade on Friday in downtown Las Vegas. It was quite the event with Parade Grand Marshal Lisa Vanderpump, plus Governor Steve Sisolak marched in the parade. This was the first time a sitting Nevada governor has taken part in the Las Vegas Pride Parade. Today’s celebration will feature a unique set of lively events crafted for attendees of all ages. The weekend’s events will include over 100 vendors, assorted food and beverage options, pop up drag shows, special appearances, and live entertainment including Bob the Drag Queen (RuPaul’s Drag Race) and rapper Cazwell. The festival will take place at the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center. Click here for more info. This year, Las Vegas PRIDE is PET-FRIENDLY and has combined with Las Vegas PRIDE Pets. Trailer For Upcoming Revival Of Armistead Maupin’s ‘Tales Of The City’

Netflix’s highly anticipated revival of Armistead Maupin’s Tales of the City has released its first official teaser trailer.

Based on the serial novels by Maupin, Tales of the City chronicles the lives of a group of friends living at 28 Barbary Lane in San Francisco.

“When I first got off the bus years ago,” says Laura Linney’s character at the beginning of the trailer, “I had the strangest feeling that I’d come home.”

Before HBO’s Looking or Showtime’s Queer As Folk, Tales of the City developed a huge following due to the acclaimed PBS miniseries in 1993. That success spawned two sequels (More Tales of the City in 1998, Further Tales of the City in 2001) produced by Showtime.

More than 20 years later, original cast members Laura Linney and Olympia Dukakis are back, and they are joined by new cast members including Ellen Page, Charlie Barnett, Murray Bartlet, Daniela Vega and Molly Ringwald.

In the 10-episode series, Mary Ann Singleton (Laura Linney) returns to San Francisco after 20 years and is reunited with her ex-hubby Brian (Paul Gross) and daughter Shawna (Ellen Page).

Despite a “picture-perfect” life in Connecticut, a mid-life crisis sends Mary Ann back into the world of Anna Madrigal (Dukakis) and Maupin’s signature slate of eccentric San Francisco characters.

Look for RuPaul’s Drag Race alum, Bob the Drag Queen, in the mix along with more of the rich tapestry of community that is San Francisco.

The series is scheduled to have its world premiere at the San Francisco Film Festival this Friday, April 10.

The rest of the world will have to wait until the June 7 debut on Netflix.
