Poll: Biden Leads Trump By 6 Points In Vital Swing State

A new poll by the University of North Florida Public Opinion Research Lab shows Donald Trump’s mixed messages and slow response to the ongoing coronavirus health threat is having a negative impact on his standing with voters in the vital swing-state of Florida. Pollsters found that 55% said the federal government has not gone far enough in taking action against COVID-19. The poll found 45% strongly or somewhat approve of the job Trump is doing to address the pandemic, while a majority of 53% disapprove. Asked if the election were held today, who voters would support for president, former Vice President Joe Biden trumped Trump by six points, 46% to 40%. Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and the president’s top health advisor, scored the highest rating with 85% approval and 6% disapproval among registered Florida voters.

Gallup: Trump Approval Rating Drops Amid Mixed Coronavirus Messaging

Gallup Polling reports Donald Trump’s approval rating, which had risen in the aftermath of his impeachment acquittal, has dipped 5 points to 44 percent as he and his administration have sent conflicting messages about the severity of the COVID-19 threat.

The latest reading is from Gallup’s March 2-13 poll, which was conducted as the novel coronavirus spread throughout the U.S., eventually leading to international travel restrictions, the cancellation of major U.S. events and widespread school closures.

The magnitude of the COVID-19 crisis in the U.S. quickly evolved over the poll’s field period, and Americans’ (particularly Democrats’ and independents’) concern about it increased sharply. The Dow Jones Industrial Average recorded historic declines in the past two weeks.

Gallup: Trump Support Inches To 45%, Support For Impeachment 46%

As the House of Representatives prepares to vote on two articles of impeachment against Donald Trump, Gallup Polling reports Trump’s approval has inched up to 45 percent as support for impeachment reaches 46 percent. From Gallup Polling:

President Donald Trump’s job approval rating has inched up again and is now at 45%. The president’s ratings have increased six percentage points since the House of Representatives opened an impeachment inquiry against him in the fall.

Trump’s latest job rating is on the high end of the relatively tight range of 35% to 46% approval he has received since taking office, and marks the fifth time he has reached 45% or higher during his presidency. His approval stretched to 46% only once, in May of this year, when a flurry of positive economic news coincided with the issuing of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report.

Currently, 46% support impeachment and removal, down six percentage points from the first reading after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced the impeachment inquiry. Meanwhile, 51% oppose impeachment and removal — up five percentage points over the same period.

Trump Approval Rating Drops Amid Impeachment Inquiry

A new Gallup poll out this week finds that President Donald Trump’s approval rating is 40%. His disapproval rating is 56%.

Trump is in worse shape than he was in early September when Gallup put his approval rating at 43% and his disapproval rating at 54%.

Throughout the Trump administration, Democrats were arguing among themselves over whether to impeach or, at minimum, start an impeachment inquiry against the President. One of the political arguments against it was that it would cause an electoral backlash — that is, trying to impeach Trump would allow his consistently low approval ratings to rise.

So far, that hasn’t happened. Trump, at this point, has not improved his position following the impeachment inquiry. If anything, his numbers have dipped.

Support For Impeaching Trump Higher Than Nixon Or Clinton At Same Point

Axios notes that support for the impeachment of Donald Trump is higher than when impeachment inquiries were launched against Richard Nixon (38%) and Bill Clinton (29%). From Axios:

Support for impeachment of Trump is still less than half the country — 44% in the Monmouth University poll shown here; 47% in a CNN poll. And the polling reflects a 50-50 country. But the Ukraine scandal is pushing the numbers up.

Per CNN: “The change since May has largely come among independents and Republicans. … Support for impeachment and removal has risen 11 points to 46% among independents and 8 points to 14% among Republicans.”

Keep in mind: A majority of the public didn’t support impeaching Nixon until a few weeks before he resigned.

Trump Thanks Himself For Title Of “Very Stable Genius”

President Trump’s approval rating dipped slightly among Republican voters, though is relatively steady among voters overall, according to the latest Hill-HarrisX poll released Friday.

The nationwide survey shows 83 percent of GOP voters saying they approve of the president’s job performance, marking a 2-point drop from an identical poll conducted Aug. 18-20.

Currently, political news site RealClearPolitics shows Trump has an average approval rating among all Americans of 43 percent. Meanwhile, Trump was just making up approval numbers over on Twitter.

The Donald also thanked himself for giving himself the title of ‘very stable genius,’ while seeming to be confused about whether he wants to ‘make America great again’ or ‘keep America great.’

Trump Approval Rating Dips To 38%

The latest ABC News/Washington Post poll shows Donald Trump’s approval rating has again tanked dropping 6 points from 44% approval in the same poll in July to just 38% approval today. Fifty-sex percent of those polled disapproved of the job Trump in doing as president. While 56% of those polled approve of the current economy (down 9 points from the last poll), 60% say a recession is very or somewhat likely to occur in the next year. Additionally, 60% are concerned that the Donald’s current trade war with China will cause an increase in prices of goods Americans buy. ABC News’ Evan McMurry reports, “Trump’s average rating since taking office remains the lowest on record for any modern president at a comparable point in his term, and he is the first never to have achieved majority approval.” Also in polling news, the latest Univision News poll in Texas shows (surprisingly) that former Vice President Joe Biden, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) all would beat Trump in hypothetical head-to-head matchups in the Lone Star state if the presidential election were held today. Sanders fared best scoring 48% support versus the Donald’s 42% estimate. The survey shows Biden would beat Trump by 4 points – 47% to 43%; and Warren would win 44% to Trump’s 42% albeit that lands within the 3 point margin of error. Trump won the state of Texas in 2016 by 9 points. A Democrat hasn’t won a statewide race in the Lone Star state in 25 years.

Gallup: Trump Lags Behind Modern Presidents In Approval

Gallup polling shows Donald Trump lags behind most other modern presidents in terms of approval ratings.

The approval ratings reported here are based on Gallup Daily tracking averages for President Donald Trump in 2017 and 2018, and periodic multi-day polls for Trump starting in 2019.

As you can see from the graphic below via Gallup, Trump’s current approval stands at 43 percent.

His highest rating to date in the Gallup poll was 46 percent in April, and his lowest was 35 percent in December 2017.

Compared with previous presidents at this point in their presidency, though, Trump lags behind just about every modern president except Jimmy Carter who was mired in the Iran hostage crisis and a terrible economy.

Barack Obama garnered 46 percent approval at this point; George W scored 63 percent; Bill Clinton, even with impeachment looming, had 47 percent approval.

Only problem is: it's wrong. The director of the poll followed up Trump's tweet with one of his own announcing the mistake. Trump's approval rating from the poll is actually 43% - which is about where he's topped out for two years. The 55% number is his disapproval rating.

That same poll showed 49% say Trump’s style and approach are insulting and wrong; only 27% approved of his “style” and “approach.”

Only 38% said Trump deserves re-election.

New Polling: Americans Trust Nancy Pelosi More Than Donald Trump

New polling from Quinnipiac University has some interesting results:

• American voters trust Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi more than President Trump by a margin of 49% to 42% respectively.

• That gap is wider with independent voters with Pelosi getting 49% still but Trump dropping to 36%.

• 56% say the recent shutdown of the federal government was Trump and Congressional Republicans’ fault, while only 34% put the onus on Democrats.

• Trump’s job approval rating dropped to 38% in the QU poll while his disapproval jumped to 57%.

• Voters support a bill that funds new border security measures but without funding for a wall 61% versus 33% who don’t approve of that approach.

• 66% disapprove of the president using “emergency powers” to get his wall built.

• 70% of voters believe transgender people should be able to serve in the U.S. military versus 20% who do not approve.
