Pat Robertson: “The Gays Want To Control Everything”

Today, Pat Robertson went on another of his anti-gay rants telling his audience “The gays want to control everything.”

Via Right Wing Watch:

“This is part of the left-wing agenda,” he said, “to do away with Christian values and to substitute for Christian values the progressive concepts of morality.”

“You tell me if anybody, if you show me one couple that conceived a child through anal — through anal intercourse — just show me one in all the world, and I will say, ‘I agree with you and you are right.’ Show me one. There are 8 billion people, 7 billion, show me one time when a child was conceived by that kind of sexual activity,” Robertson said. “It is unnatural, I’m sorry.”

Arnold Schwarzenegger Expresses Concern And Fury Over Anti-Gay Religious Freedom Laws

In a Washington Post op-ed published Friday morning, former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (R) expressed his fury towards his fellow Republicans over anti-gay religious freedom laws such as the one recently passed in Indiana.

“As an American, I’m incredibly concerned about what happened in Indiana this week and the threat of similar laws being passed in other states. As a Republican, I’m furious.”

“Distracting, divisive laws like the one Indiana passed aren’t just bad for the country, they’re also bad for our party.”

Regarding corporations like Walmart that took a stand against the divisive legislation: “Those businesses are doing the right thing, but they have also done the math. As a party, we need to take a similarly realistic look,” he said.

Georgia Ends Legislative Session Without Passing RFRA

The Georgia lawmakers closed their legislative session without passing a controversial “religious freedom” bill. Similar legislation has held the nation’s attention this past week thanks to bills in Indiana and Arkansas.

From the Atlanta Journal-Constitution:

Gov. Nathan Deal, who has repeatedly said he would support legislation that mirrored the 1993 law, signaled the debate has become too toxic. He said in an interview that supporters ensure that anti-discrimination language is in the measure next year if they want to earn his signature.

“That’s the most important thing. And that is a delicate thing to do,” he said. “There’s been so much hyperbole. It’s hard to identify what can you say without saying too much, what can you say without saying too little, and what will people read into either version that you like.”

A version of the legislation was swiftly approved by Senate lawmakers, but it was tabled in the House after three Republicans joined with Democrats to add an anti-discrimination amendment. And the uproar over similar bills in Arkansas and Indiana, along with growing pushback from iconic Georgia businesses, seemed to seal its fate.

Georgia: Christian Florist Would Deny Service To Gays But Not Adulterers Because “It’s A Different Kind Of Sin”

CNN’s Gary Tuchman interviewed several florists in rural Georgia and asked if they would provide certain services to gay people.

All five said “no” based on their deeply held religious beliefs. Clearly, they follow every word of the Bible, right?

Well, maybe not all of them.

It turns out being an adulterer doesn’t disqualify you from being served by Melissa Jeffcoat.

Check out this excerpt from the segment:

Tuchman: … In the Ten Commandments, it says you can’t commit adultery…

Jeffcoat: Right.

Tuchman: It says you need to honor your father and mother.

Jeffcoat: Mhmm.

Tuchman: If someone didn’t honor their parents or committed adultery, would you serve them?

Jeffcoat: Yes.

Tuchman: Well, why would you serve them but not serve someone who is gay?

Jeffcoat: It’s just a different kind of sin to me and I just don’t believe in it.

So, when the conservative nuts tell you it has nothing to do with the gays and just their “deeply held religious beliefs,” remember that some sins are just “different.” #Hypocrisy

Haters Screaming For A Veto In Indiana Over RFRA “Fix”

The haters are losing their minds over the proposed “fix” for the Indiana state “Religious Freedom Restoration Act” because it deprives them of their true goal – which was to discriminate against LGBT folks.

From Brian Brown of the National Organization for Marriage (via email):

Stung by a furor of false accusations against the Indiana Religious Liberty Restoration Act, some Republican legislators are proposing to “fix” the law by stripping it of any chance to protect people of faith against being forced by law to participate in same-sex ‘marriage’ ceremonies that violate their deeply held religious beliefs. Worse, they are rewarding gay activists and celebrities like Miley Cyrus who intentionally and massively mischaracterized the legislation passed last week with expanded “anti-discrimination” provisions that will be used as a club by these same activists to punish people of faith for supporting biblical principles in the way they live their lives.

Russell Moore, the president of the Southern Baptist Convention’s Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission, recently tweeted: “This Indiana ‘compromise’ is a train wreck. It should be voted down.” This “fix” legislation must be defeated! It is like paying ransom to a kidnapper — a complete abandonment of principle in the face of political pressure from those bent on redefining marriage and imposing a radical agenda on the country. Please sign this petition immediately so that Governor Mike Pence and top Republican legislators realize that we will not stand for this abandonment of people of faith in order to reward the radical left who have grossly mischaracterized the Religious Liberty Restoration Act.

Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council (via press release):

“On the eve of Good Friday, Big Business is encouraging elected leaders to take the silver over religious freedom.

“This new proposal guts the Religious Freedom Restoration Act and empowers the government to impose punishing fines on people for following their beliefs about marriage. Religious freedom should not be held hostage by Big Business. Big Business is now putting religious freedom in a worse place than before RFRA was signed into law.

“Gutting RFRA in this manner would put people of faith in the crosshairs of government discrimination as never before. Far from being a ‘clarification,’ this would gut religious freedom in Indiana. Religious freedom doesn’t need a ‘fix.’

“This proposal would force religious businesses and even nonprofits deemed ‘not religious enough’ to participate in wedding ceremonies contrary to their owners’ beliefs.

“If the government punishes people for living their faith, there are no limits to what government can control. We urge the governor to veto this measure that will be used by the government to bring financial ruin on people like florist Barronelle Stutzman, bakers Aaron and Melissa Klein, and wedding photographer Elaine Huguenin.”

Pat Robertson: Gays Are Going To Make You Like Anal Sex

Right Wing Watch catches Pat Robertson at his divisive, gay-hating best in this clip where he literally says that gay people will force you to embrace anal sex and endorse sex with dogs.

“It doesn’t matter what custom you’ve got, it doesn’t matter what holy thing that you worship and adore, the gays are going to get it,” Robertson said. “They’re going to make you conform to them. You are going to say you like anal sex, you like oral sex, you like bestiality, you like anything you can think of, whatever it is. And sooner or later you are going to have to conform your religious beliefs the group of some aberrant thing. It won’t stop at homosexuality.”

Sponsor Of Arkansas “Religious Freedom” Bill Serves Up Double-Talk On CNN

CNN’s Jake Tapper interviewed state Sen. Bart Hester, the sponsor of Arkansas’ religious freedom bill, and asked him multiple times if it allows for discrimination or not.

Tapper expressed his confusion multiple times given all the conflicting messaging from supporters of the bill on the matter.

Bless little Bart Hester’s heart. He was so proud of himself repeating the same word salad over and over.

Clearly the one talking point supporters of these “religious freedom” bills have is “whatever they ask, don’t use the word discriminate.”
