The results of a new Morning Consult/Politico poll shows both Sen. Bernie Sanders (42%-32%) and former Vice President Joe Biden (43%-31%) beating Donald Trump in hypothetical matchups by double digits.
Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts also appears to lead Trump by four points (34%-30%).
The results of the latest Public Policy Polling survey show Donald Trump losing to just about every opponent imaginable in 2020 including a certain porn star.
In hypothetical match ups for 2020:
• Trump trails former Vice President Joe Biden 56-39
• Trump trails Sen. Bernie Sanders 55-39
• Trump trails Sen. Elizabeth Warren 51-40
• Trump trails Sen. Cory Booker 49-39
• Trump trails Sen. Kamala Harris 43-39
• Trump trails Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand 42-40
It’s notable that Trump doesn’t break the 40% mark no matter who you poll him against.
Just for fun, PPP added two more names – porn star Stormy Daniels, and Daniels under her real name Stephanie Clifford.
“Stephanie Clifford” actually edged Trump by one point 42-41. Of course, most people don’t even know who “Stephanie Clifford” is.
When PPP used Clifford’s real name, she lost 10 points of her support trailing Trump 41-32.
During an interview on “The David Rubenstein Show: Peer-to-Peer Conversations,” Oprah Winfrey admitted she never seriously considered running for president in light of her lack of political experience.
But, in the aftermath of the Trump win, it appears she’s open to the idea. “I thought, ‘Oh gee I don’t have the experience,” Winfrey said. “I don’t know enough. And now I’m thinking, ‘Oh? Oh!’”
As she notes in the clip below, Trump has proven a political resume isn’t requisite for winning the White House.
Plus, we know she made her billions from scratch. Truly self-made.
Sen. Bernie Sanders told the Associated Press today that he is not ruling out a possible second run for the White House in 2020.
“Four years is a long time from now,” said the 75-year-old Vermont senator, noting that he faces re-election to the Senate in 2018. But he added: “We’ll take one thing at a time, but I’m not ruling out anything.”
Sanders gave voice to the frustration among many liberals in the aftermath of Trump’s stunning triumph over Hillary Clinton. He told The Associated Press in a phone interview that millions of working-class voters’ decision to back Trump was “an embarrassment” to the party and that Democrats must take a strong stand against the role of corporate interests in politics.
“It is an embarrassment, I think, to the entire of Democratic Party that millions of white working-class people decided to vote for Mr. Trump, which suggests that the Democratic message of standing up for working people no longer holds much sway among workers in this country,” Sanders said.
The Vermont senator declined to criticize his primary rival, Hillary Clinton, attributing Tuesday’s election loss to a “lack of enthusiasm” among Democrats. “People just did not come out to vote,” he said.
The AP goes on to note that Sanders will support Rep. Keith Ellison of Minnesota to become the next chairman of the Democratic National Committee. Ellison is the only Muslim member of Congress.
